Diplomacy and Necromancy can have a new formula

I'm not playing Heroes 3 Shadow of Death, because I play WoG and in Wog 3.59 already we tried to balance Diplomacy and Necromancy.

Anyway, I see in tournaments how Diplomacy and Necromancy for Shadow of Death are banned, I can make some changes.

I made some changes for Shadow of Death 3.2  and Wog(works for any version) for Necromancy. Please, post opinions about new hard-coded changes, because in future will try to implement via erm scripts

The new formula should be more balanced from small to extra large maps ones.

Necromancy New Formula
=============================

Necromancy_New Formula

The new formula is:

- Basic necromancy has 5% instead of 10%;
- Advanced necromancy has 10% instead of  20%;
- Expert necromancy has 15% instead of 30%.

Artifacts:

- Amulet of the Undertaker increases necromany by 2% instead of 5%;
- Vampire's Cowl increases necromancy by 5% instead of 10%;
- Dead Man's Boots increases necromancy by 7% instead of 15%.

Cloak of the Undead  King has been reduced to 15% instead of 30%.

Perpahs I'll replace Lich with Wraith, so won't be overpowered anymore

How to install?

- Put SSTRAITS.TXT in Heroes III/Data
- Necromancy_Nerfed.exe in Heroes III Main Folder and apply patch. Also, use backup

How to unistall?

- Delete SSTRAITS.TXT from Heroes III/Data
- use backup of original Heroes III

Would it also be possible to let the 3 heroes starting with Diplo  having a different second starting skill?

Adela = instead of diplo --> water
Cyra, = instead of dilpo --> air
Ryland = instead of diplo = armorer

And disable diplo as secondary skill aswell?

Instead of giving them new secondary skills, why not just advance the level of the one they already have so you don't accidentally reinvent the hero? For example, I would picture Ryland as more of a tactics guy than armorer. If you just boost their other skill, there's no question.

Better still, why not just make it to where nobody joins a Diplo hero for free or the ones that will do it for a fee do so at an increased fee?

I wanted the second skill related to their speciality, that's why.

Bless = water
Haste = air
dendroids = (defense power stack) armorer.

A hero with advanced wisdom as starting skill will end up in a bad choice at level 3 pretty often I bet.

And advanced leadership should be unique to Knights imho.

We will see that in the near future, but until then created the patch for Necromancy for now only.

Necromancy Nerfed
=====================

Necromancy Nerfed

The power of Necromancy has been reduced, using a new formula:

- Basic necromancy has 1% instead of 10%;
- Advanced necromancy has 3% instead of  20%;
- Expert necromancy has 5% instead of 30%.

So, can be a limit of 15% without artifacts, but those can be changed as well..

How to install?

- Put SSTRAITS.TXT in Heroes III/Data
- Necromancy_Nerfed.exe in Heroes III Main Folder and apply patch. Also, use backup

How to unistall?

- Delete SSTRAITS.TXT from Heroes III/Data
- use backup of original Heroes III

P.S I can make Skeleton Warriors instead of Skeletons if are requests, because Necromancy with my new formula is balanced..At least for early and middle games

Raising skeleton warriors would be great, but not really instead of skeletons... Can you somehow let me chose what to raise ? For example if I have skeleton warriors with me and no skeletons than raise skeleton warriors ? Or have some heroes raise skeleton warriors, while other raise skeletons ? Or some other way: depending on hero level, and this way I would need two slots: one for the old skeletons, other for the new skeleton warriors ...

@BAD

Me and my friends play Heroes regularly, but Necropolis is always banned due to the tremendous power of necromancy and it's respective artifacts. Anyway, the thing is we want to play with necro, but prior that, I want to nerfe it down a bit. The link you provided here has expired so I ask if can you provide me with the EXE or perhaps with the memory offsets of necromancy artifacts and the pillar? I have found reference for most of the secondary skills and changed them accordingly (necromancy included) but I also want to change the necro artifacts and I can't find offset reference for them anywhere. Help!!

Yes, that would be a very handy script and a lovely mod for Era.

Necromancy already give skeletons warriors if you have only warriors in your army and no empty slot. Beside, there is no need to necromancy this thread, as Bad is since long time ago out of Heroes/WoG, he is now master sorcerer in WoW.

Yeah, the if-no-empty-slot condition sometimes cause annoying situations. No biggie though.

My bad ... It seems I am years late. So, here's another one... DOES anyone here know the structure of the heroes exe file and can anyone point me out the memory offsets of the necro artifacts(since only in the exe can one hope to change the sec. skills and the artifacts' attribute values). Anybody?!
