Grand Theft Auto

Thinked that there are soo many fans of GTA in HC
(Well, so many, not all are supposed to love it, lol)

GTA biography:
Grand Theft Auto is an action-adventure video game series created by David Jones and Mike Dailly the later titles of which were created by brothers Dan and Sam Houser, Leslie Benzies and Aaron Garbut. It is primarily developed by Rockstar North (formerly DMA Design), and published by Rockstar Games. The name of the series references the term used in the USA for motor vehicle theft.
Most games in the series are set in fictional locales modelled on American cities, usually either Liberty City, Vice City, or San Andreas, which are stand-ins for New York City, Miami, and the state of California, respectively. The first 2D titles encompassed three fictional cities, while 3D and HD titles tend to emphasise a single city and its outlying areas. Gameplay focuses on an open world where the player can choose missions to progress an overall story, as well as engaging in side activities, all consisting of action-adventure, driving, third-person shooting, occasional role-playing, stealth, and racing elements. The series also has elements of the earlier beat 'em up games from the 16-bit era. The series has gained controversy for its adult nature and violent themes. The series focuses around many different protagonists who attempt to rise through the ranks of the criminal underworld, although their motives for doing so vary in each game. The antagonists are commonly characters who have betrayed the protagonist or his organisation, or characters who have the most impact impeding the protagonist's progress.
Video game developer DMA Design began the series in 1997; as of 2014 it has eleven stand-alone games and four expansion packs. The third chronological title, Grand Theft Auto III, was widely acclaimed, as it brought the series to a 3D setting and more immersive experience, and is considered a landmark title that has subsequently influenced many other open world action games and led to the label "Grand Theft Auto clone" on similar games. Subsequent titles would follow and build upon the concept established in Grand Theft Auto III. Film and music veterans have voiced characters, including Ray Liotta, Burt Reynolds, Dennis Hopper, Samuel L. Jackson, Debbie Harry, Phil Collins, Axl Rose, and Peter Fonda. The series has been critically acclaimed and commercially successful, having sold more than 150 million units, as of September 2013.

History:
1997 - Grand Theft Auto (the first game in the series. Deffinetly boring)
1999 - Grand Theft Auto London 1969
1999 - Grand Theft Auto London 1961
1999 - Grand Theft Auto 2
2001 - Grand Theft Auto III (Finally, a nice 3D game)
2002 - Grand Theft Auto Vice City (The brother of San Andreas, way more cooler than III)
2004 - Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (In my opinion this game was the best, until other series released)
2004 - Grand Theft Auto Advance
2005 - Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories
2006 - Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories
2008 - Grand Theft Auto IV (the BEST GTA for that time, because it had nice graphics, and deffinetly new missions, gameplay etc. My uncle bought it for me (in 2009-2010), but here comes GTA V witch is totally making it too much old )
2009 - GTA IV - The Lost And Damned (this and this one down are cool mods/expansion for GTA IV)
2009 - GTA IV - The Ballad Of Gay Tony (I didn't done anything, it is only the name of the game )
2013 - Grand Theft Auto 5 (The most interesting game at the moment for the most peoples that saw it, pretty costing money)

Any impressions, tips, and questions/answers could be posted in this thread.

I liked the first game. One of the games I've been the most excited about I think. But yeah in the long run it could get pretty boring..

I got the london edition, thought it was another name for GTA II (before II had been released). When I found out it was basically the same game with different skins I got pretty disappointed. I felt like we'd bought the same game twice. Please remember this is back before I know much Enlgish, and completing objectives were never something I played for, the ever pointing arrow was more of an annoyance really.

When II came out and I saw on the box that it looked like the first game, only with a bit better graphics, I abandoned the series. I'd hoped the second game would have had first person perspective in stead of overhead view.

@Ohforfsake
What the heck !?!?!?
REALLY !?!?!?
GTA I, and GTA II were really fake, I know, but did you tryed to play, or will you try to play GTA:SA ?
OR GTA IV !?!?!?
They changed to 3D, so now it is even the different story. Look, maybe those pics will help you understand what changes were made.

GTA I

And this will show you that some changes really applyed and make it worth playing:

GTA:San Andreas

GTA V

See ?
There are some really nice changes to make it worth the lots of bucks with each new series coming. And worth playing it.

Oh, and sorry, couldn't post the screens for the other GTAs, so sorry

I don't think the first game was 'fake' and I'm sure if I'd gotten into the actual story of the game, the later installments would have been fine.

I know they went to first person perspective, but that was long after I lost interest in the game.

Edit: Looking at the dates you posted, it apparently already happened in 01. Funny how big difference there was between 99 and 01, especially considering I didn't get the first game before 98. It might also have had something to do with games being released up to a year later in my country and that the London editions and GTA II apparently were released relatively close. In 99 I had had win98 and the many new and exciting games that followed and would follow for about ~1 year and was far from tired or settled in any way. In 2001 all I ever did was playing Diablo 2, not really being as interested in new games there.

So which first person GTA game do you think is the best? You write III isn't very good, how come?

Well, the game that every GTA player, and every man hearing about it was running for: GTA V.
It is deffinetly the most interesting one, and if you get it (buy it)/ unpack it or do gameplay videos (specially on PC) and post them on YouTube, you surely are about to gain 1000000 views at least.

@GTA III

Definetly not even good. It was only the introduction into GTA first-person age. Actually it was nice to play, but you get bored pretty easy. GTA:SA is pretty great to play, and you could mod it. See the screenshot of GTA:SA given above ?
It was the GTA:IV map for GTA:SA. But GTA IV is about to look like this:

And Diablo 2 was sure to be a nice game
I used to play it on those days, but after I installed it, it has errors (known errors : Heroes 7 is not good-compatible with Diablo II)

For me the series died when it went 3d. It became just one more action game but with cars. And all the violence of first and second GTA became just not amusing and not fun at all once it was a realistic 3d.

I tried to play GTA V and the likes of it - Watch Dogs for example, although decent its nothing compared to good old gta 1/2

First of all, don't judge this like I obligate you to love other GTAs.
But what is your problem with 3D ?
The idea was quite awsome, because this game was a reference to the bank robbers, thieves and other peoples who must stop doing crimes. As it gets more realistic, it gots more attractive. The first and second GTAs are simply too much not fun. And it wasn't even created by Rockstar
My team worked ONLY on GTA : San Andreas. Furthermore, other members of Rockstars used only to work in GTAs in 3D style.

Eh, and Watch Dogs used to be GTA IV (map) mixed with GTA V (graphics, cars ), and added the phone hack. I have nothing with Ubisoft, I see it is all awsome, but Rockstar North, and my colegues SWEARED that if Ubisoft will keep doing this, they will cancel other GTAs. It is pure a problem for GTA players. GTA V is simply going run out of stores/not be sold at all, and/or Ubi is going loose it too.
AGAIN, NO PROBLEM WITH UBI, IS JUST TACTICAL.

Umm, so now, peoples keep wondering witch will ever be the best GTAs. There are so much of them, that much use to play SA,IV,V,VC, or other series, and think they're favorites.
So, more reasons please ?
How would you like the next GTA to be ?
2D wasn't that awsome in my opinion, but if you want to add some more features, I could suggest Mike to add it via e-mail. I listen

Like I wrote before, I wanted 3D, but I was happy with 2D when I played the first game. Had 3D come around sooner, I'd maybe still play the games.

One thing I could imagine would be nice would be multiple view points, e.g. if you can put a drone in the sky it can give you a look from above (similar to 2D, but in 3D) or install cameras etc.

Also, I don't know about the later installments, but all these games really needs to be "alive", things has to be going on independent of the player and with different outcomes for different games. So you're not all alone in a huge world.

Kind of. If the server you are playing is yours, or well, you are in your zone that's yours. You can access them by computer too. But there is a kinda air balloon if you want it that way . Anyway, if you don't want to place cameras, you could simply access your phone, or computer and hack the web and go and see. You could do this by going to a mission in the middle of game where Trevor and Michael are gone by cars, and you could help them get that money, by accessing the cameras, and hacking the state web, and change the color of the traffic lights. (Trevor, Michael and Franklin are the main 3 characters, and in side the game you could switch between them)

mixed feelings about GTA series in general. of the parts I played anyway.

Vice City was rather nice.really enjoyable and most missions weren't retarded beyond imagining iirc. been awhile since I played that. the "Deluxe" mod was fun even if it was just vehicle reskin pack.

San Andreas went completely bonkers mission wise. a ghetto raised blackie raiding top secret goverment/military facilities. yea right. like that mission in CoD: Black Ops where 2 cia goons and a beaten to a pulp professor kill of half a battalion of Spetcnaz operatives. hollywood bullcrap, hollywood bullcrap everywhere. Extensive customisation of the main toon and light RPG features were nice though. oh yea, and Sage, the DJ of Radio X. lovely broad. awesome voice for her.

GTA IV. now there's something I liked. a very down to earth story, amusing characters and decent missions fit for an organised crime "torpedo". a shame that they removed that khokhol broad Ruslana, as a DJ for Vladivostok FM in a patch. although not a fan of rooskie pop music in general, but the soundtrack from that particular station was put rather well and they were of "quality musicČ if you can call pop music that way. but that one needed more Arya(not the GoT character, the rooskie heavy metal band) in it.

I do get it that GTA series is often parodying real world(pisswasser, a pretty accurate description of popular kraut beers) and making fun of many of social "taboo" if you can call them that, but in a game like that I look for a more down to earth and serious crime thriller.
Mafia series, the most well known of "GTA clones" are superior games in that respect. those games deserve movie adaptations directed by Scorsese, but the game plot wise already is an interactive Scorsese film, which is nice.

Well, I know you hate GTA:SA, but this only because you don't know to respect it. It was all a great work, and more interesting to play in multiplayer (SA:MP). But, though GTA: IV was a really more worked game. Pretty enjoyable, and now my favorite games. The missions were the same interesting as GTA:SA, but thankfully to other peoples, they added graphics, edited the personajes in cutscenes, and added more features. Really enjoy it

hate in what way exactly?

missions? yea. once you get out of San Fierro it get's retarded. just strap yourself in and brace yourself for the bleeping ride through the insane asylum.
What I initially expected was a "hood movie" inspired crime thriller. I was dissapointed in that. very dissapointed. esspecially the missions from that goverment agent turd.

soundtrack in nice. although I listened only to few in game radio stations. Radio X was my favourite one.

A protagonist who is an afro-american? who gives a bleep. and I'm according to some a "hardcore nazi and fascist". bleep them.
"Don't Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood" is one of my fav parody comedies.

toon customisation. big plus in my book.

Another reason why you got penaltiyes. And sure some users got too :
Racism

Even if were talking about a fictional character witch is an afro-american that have some snowty story, imagine that it was inspired by the true life and that man exists. Indeed the white peoples always tend to be racist. Why ?
Simple. They think they are more thinkfully, and better. In some cases, yes, if we talk about that 'stealers' in France. They were simply bulldozered. That's good, because they made crimes, and done lots of things. But the black people at general are likely good. Think about what some peoples sayd in 2009 into the Minarets banned topic. Sure, 6 years passed, but though it is racism to talk that they made problems, if you don't stand to be one. We were all created though God. We were given on earth for a reason: Live peacefully, and enjoy the life. The rest is not my problem. It is everyone personal's problem. I live with muslims. All my life is muslim. Really, they are indeed only getting peaced-out. Some retarted terrorrists striking France and Europe ?
They have no believing. They make some people even more racist than before. But is for no reason. Once we will all see the truth. But if you think this is all a story invented by a crazy man, then you will see. All I done was warning you. Laugh now, and later you will cry. Ok, now done with it, noone is obligated to follow a religion, but to respect other religions at least. And, peoples, I really love are black, muslim, and some (SALAMANDRE) say that they need special things. They actually do, because:
1. They don't eat pig (actually, it is a story about it, but eh)
2. The females don't have to show up (because the a**holes/rapers)

Now, please, don't judge me like I sayd anything bad. It is all just, respect others, and try to figure out how to be less racist, and find out what rules, and what pricipies they have. They are black. So what the **** is this all about ? Aren't they humans ? Oh, wait, they are monkeys witch changed theyr form
Peace and Love

Eh? He makes a good point actually. In my mind GTA has been an enlightening experience, of course a work of fiction but with morsel of truth in every turn. So yeah, I myself would have loved to have experienced the troubles that an up-n'-comin black gangster faces, and initially it delivers, but after that it does go fubar and loses its core focus.
