i feel good because i supported in everyway i know to make this game better.
i will continue to support cause its always can go better and better, theres no limit to that.
it will be harsh but let me say this: those who dont support it, have no right to dream a new heroes game. if you gonna sit and yell from distance, you better not bother doing so. its flawed? yes, but every game comes with flaws... this is just a poor excuse and has no connection to fandom.
not even trying, is just not acceptable in my book. devs try, you should try too.
if you say "im not a fan anymore, just a casual player" then i have no reason to care your opinions deeply.
one way or another. no middle ground.

jadw8888 said: If no-one buys H7 then that would definitely be the end of the Heroes franchise. If enough people by H7 then surely Ubi / Limbic will have a motivation to continue improving it. Heroes 5 vanilla was broken but ToTE turned it into a good game.
If Ubi make whatever improvements are needed for H7 to be near enough to perfect then I wouldn't regret buying it from the start.
This is not helping the heroes franchise to buy a game half finished!!
If you buy it, buy it becaus it's a good game, not because maybe in a future the game will be improved.... and i doubt it!
Guys here have no memories....
I'm gonna refresh their mind.
Heroes 6 / Heroes 6 / Heroes 6...... and the carnage begin
I will buy Heroes 7 cos it's got Sylvan, random skillwheel, H5 factions (except the 2 that I liked the least), good map editor (by what people have said about it), and campaigns. I skipped H6 cos of DRM and bad reviews.
I think there will be expansion packs - H6 had one or two (didn't follow H6 much so don't know accurately).
Also H7 should have been released later (maybe in December) so devs would have spent more time fixing bugs after the betas.

There are sim turns. However, if you focus on multiplayer, I reccomend waiting for a few months until server issues will mostly be overcome.

But.... those who bought the game on release day will have a headstart. I fear there are some very competitive players out there, just waiting to gain all the experience they can get

I already played mp with a friend during beta 2. It's very smooth except for AI turns (which they fixed in the main game). Feels like playing h5 again, although not balanced yet ofc.
EDIT: I did a google and many people do have weird crashes. So YMMV.

So far it's unlikely that I will buy the game.
Reasons? Marketing of this product is full of blatant lies. No matter how you look at it, in the end:
-community had no real saying in the process of making,
-the game is set in the least favorite universe,
-done in a half-assed 3D draining half of the budget,
-STILL heavily based on the least favored edition (H6).
And everyone just keep telling that cosmetics>gameplay, that visuals>tactic, and that "game core" is an urban myth that our imagination gave us. WOW. It's a SEVENTH EDITION of a famous STRATEGY game, and all the devs have to do is to make that strategy work like it worked before and add content to it. Anything else is simply NOT necessary.
I would rather throw money at a developer that would make an indie, isometric Heroes with 12 factions and 50 campaigns, a map editor that a child can use and a replay value of Chess, the mother of all strategy games and tactical combat simulations.
It's quite the contrary - "simplistic" doesn't mean what most think it means. You can do things with STYLE, you know, only if you don't forget what it is you're trying to make - a good strategy game or a heavily advertised money-grabber.

I mostly agree except for a few things.
I am pretty sick of the marketing but in the end it's not something that would influence my decision of getting the game or not. Just less respect for ubi.
Ashan isn't going away anytime soon and it doesn't really matter if creative direction does not change. Any world would end up with the same problems unless the priorities and goals change. Do you think we'd be better off if ubi kept the old world? I sincerely doubt it.
Atm 2D is more expensive than 3D. A pity because I would have prevered a 2D heroes.
I wouldn't say H7 is heavily based on its predecessor as it has reversed most of its bad decisions like fewer resources, spells part of the skill system, universal creature pool, purely manual skill system etc. However it has borrowed a number of graphical assets which can at times be obvious and the skill system's H6 influences remain.

And they expect us to applaud them for reversal of atrocious decisions which should never have been done in the first place. Regarding reused assets IIRC some Limbic employee said on twitch the game would have had only two factions if all art was from scratch, which IMO tells pretty much about the budget Ubi is investing in the franchise and how they believe in it, but I admit I wouldn't have been bothered much by cosmetics if mechanics were more in line with what most of the community acclaimed as their favorites features from the past games. And what are these art priorities anyway, like reusing butterfly dragon but giving us strider.
But let us not forget, "the fans voted dark elves of Dungeon", riiiight.

I believe if inferno was voted that they would get same amount of reused creatures as dungeon. Number of creatures to be reused was set long time ago.
I can't understand why they didn't judge models one by one only by their quality and choose which one to reuse that way. Why they didn't keep Centaur and Harpy from HVI which have great models and redo that abysmal shadow and black dragon that nobody likes? I mean Dungeon siege Wyvern looks a lot better then dragon. Some decisions are just unexplainable.

But they did originally plan to use the beloved meth-head, Arthas and Lamasu... And we still have our lovely Lamasu after all the rage
I think the sad thing is that many of the re-used models actually looked better in h6. All the over the top extra decorations just weren't necessary nor fitting to their plain graphical looks/designs. I kinda get the feeling they just threw the dice to pick which units they recycle from h6 without any regard on their looks

Hmm, I agree that marketing shouldn't be a base for a buyer's decision, but in this case it only underlines how this entire game is built to be a)flashy and b)make peace with H6 negativity, not to be the best that heroes can get. It's kinda obvious, when you rewind all that's been said.
It's a #7, the hype is always real after that many editions, but so are expectations. At this point, QUALITY is most important. Gameplay experience. That is the number one value of a strategy game, and nothing else matters ().
I "meh" to both graphic and animation no matter how grand it looks, I jump directly to combat and content, and when I see restrictions, reductions, and some random fgt's brilliant new ideas that can magically replace decades of polished stuff I start singing warcries instead of catchy ballads.
Recycling isn't the point, the point is in what are you recycling and more important - why.
