Wolfshanze, as you said...I dismissed all my BOUGHT dragons...and I went
at an island in the south east corner of the map and found 46 bone dragons and they joined me...I went at the one way monolith and I get the same old thing 'Markal needs to recruit 20 bone dragons before he can pursue Cyrus'...what went wrong?

I wish I could tell you... I'm a little dumbfounded as you are.  The only other piece of advice I could offer (and it's a REAAAAAAAAAAL stretch... I'm not saying this will work), is that when I reached the garrison where I got the bone dragon quest, I had over 20 recruited dragons (not bought), and I had already upgraded them to Spectral Dragons at the nearby Hill Fort.  It allowed me to complete the quest with nothing but Spectral Dragons... once again, not saying this is the reason why, but it's the only differance I can think of.

I've heard of others having problems with this scenario... it's entirely possible it's flawed or bugged, but I went through with no problems.

When I finished the second lvl of the necropolis campaign I jumped right to the 4th lvl (the regicide).

Do you guys are experiencing this problem ?

I only saw that because alot of you are talking about recruiting dragons bones and in all my missions I didnt have that objective...

Strange thing

I had the same, i alos thought i had only done 3 missions and i was already at mission 5! Perhaps a bug or something?

No problem... glad to help a fellow Heroes fan.

P.S.
Not that it matters now, but besides the free bone dragons, there was also a SWARM of Skeleton Archers just asking to be picked-up by Markal... made this scenario waaaaay too easy.  Never had a problem dispatching anyone... I had over 3,000 Skeleton Archers here... Markal's "free undead" pick-up ability simply MUST be exploited to the full in this campaign!

In the second mission i managed to conquer all the map ... that was quite easy ... but how the hell am i supposed to take the town in the centre ???
No matter how many units i train ... he always has just as many of the equal level troops or more ... i have got 50 archangels hes got 60 titans and similar on all level. Plus his hero is on much higher level than mine + better and stronger spells.
Its always ends like this ... battle begins, first move titans ... attacking inquisitors 9000dmg 100 inquisitors dead ... that is totaly impossible to overcome.

THE SAME PROBLEM PLZ HALP !!!!!!!!!!

Hello.

To Those having trouble conquering the Academy in Mission 2:

Did you already build the Citadel in the Necropolis? If no, this causes the 100+ titans guarding the portal to disappear, allowing you to skip the garrison outside the Academy.

If you did build the citadel, Then I guess I dont know what to tell you. I managed to build a very respectable number of skeleton archers while clearing the home island. I lost haven archers mostly. Then after I managed to kill all the wizards on the boats, I just went straight for the Necropolis, grabbing every undead stack I could. By this time I didnt have ANY haven troops, just liches/skeleton archers, and (I think) a stack of plain vampires? While building the citadel I went around grabbing more undead.

Then the same day I built up the citadel I went through the portal and won with no problem.

Are you killing all the living opponents you can? That builds your Skeleton archers.

Are you remembering to use your Raise Dead spell? This keeps army losses to a minimum.

Did you just sit home trying to build a Haven army? Don't. Go fast as you can with skeleton archers/liches. You'll get more archers after battles, and grab undead units.

That's all I know, hope it helps.

Hi, I'm new here at HC. Anyway I am stuck on the last necropolis mission. I have tried many of the tactics and tips provided here and I always manage to defeat Godric's initial army but when he gets the Archangels and other Haven troops I only have a few Zombies left. Any hints or strategies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Preferably if anyone had an auto save of the cutscene after Godric is defeated or any other save just before fighting him could you please email it to me at jasonzwi@hotmail.com. Thanks again.

Perhaps you have the wrong atributes for your here, when i kill living nemys i get the exact number back in skeletons, when on the first island i had 1k of skeletons, and i coukld easily defeat the ornage enemy, and always try to fight in your castle (ofcourse you need 3 towers and a moat (try to build this as fast as possible!)

And will some one please react on my last post (im stuck at necro 5, perhapsi can borrow a save gamne from someone?)

I give in...the second mission, the attack, i just don't know how to do it...By the end of the 2nd OR 3rd week orange sends a stack of mobs all the way up to colossi at me. I have tried not actually uncovering the landing grounds as some suggest he does not land then...wrong, he does. I have left my town un defended as some suggest that he does not take it over and leaves...wrong he does take it over and he does not leave. I have tried fighting him and on the odd occasion i win i am left with so few troops a small breeze will destroy me.....then his second army lands.....
ATM i have the free wraiths and vampires along with 255 skelly archers an i have milked every neutral pile i can (ie i am NOT trying for the titans guarding the unicorn bow), i have Haven up to the stables and mages guild lv 3 and i may as well not bother...as he always arrives with way more than i can cope with.....HEEEEEEEEELP!

if u need ther is nice item form archer a unicorne bow and don't care about haeven castle its ssuck do as many rang unit as you can and archer atribute and not kill all orang ships dont need only go to necropolis they don't go after you

Hello.

To Herne: Try not building anything in your haven except up to Priests or whatever they're called, and money buildings. Buy all the low level units you can, it seems like the Titans and Collosi will attack them instead of skeleton archers. Get the Military post and buy Priests. When I attacked the Titans, I think I had about 12-14 Priests, plus EVERY other monster I could put in my army. I lost all the Wraiths, some Priests, Archers, Peasants, but my Skeleton Archers were fine. When Mage landed on me I didn't have any problem beating him with low losses. Then I got the Liches!

Keep trying. I've played some games over and over again.

Hope this helps.

Hello, nice to meet u all...

i found out that mission 5 is difficult for me to beat. I play the mission as fast as possible, all were nothing except this one : Godric.

His minion are not that impossible to take down, the problem is Godric, i try various spell like frenzy, puppet master, rise dead, phamtom force, summon elemental, etc... still no use at all

first i try to defeat Godric at 3th @ 4th days(1st weeks) with small armies and my strongest creatures r wraith. lost terriblely since godric has titans.

then i build my armies with 1k skellies archers, about 40 liches, 70 spectres, >25 Wraith, several "s" dragons, >40 Vampire lords to fight with godric. When i fought him i met 5 titans, 5 collosi, and can't remember but i think his armies a bit larger than mine, maybe more.

still i think i can beat him with magic, then i losses again. Why? i think it my mistake to build up godric into high level hero. Lvl29 with tons of mana, magic, and if im not fast enough to take down his strongest creature, he casted benection, mass divine, mass haste, resurrection, and i can't remember all of them since i already depressed.

if any members here kind enough to give me advise how to pass this mission, please do. if u wanna try my savegames i will gladly send it to u, thx.

Answering the previous post:
What made me win this lvl was my endless mana. Godric's mana pool is large but when he waste eveything you can beat it easly... follow the following strategy. I've won .

I want to give some tips for everyone that are playing the 5th lvl of the necro campaign.

It was already said here that you need to develop a little the haven city so later on the lvl you can convert all your army into undead one.

Extremly necessary and important spells to have in your heroe:

Puppet Master
Raise Dead
Mark of the Necromancer

To have an idea I've wiped out the Godric's army without a single dragon in my army (they arent that good anyway).

That three spells saved my day. The final battle with godric was extremly cool. Basicly I casted(2 or 3 times, when turns was ending) Puppet Master in the Rakshasa Raja stack (30+) and in the archmages (80+). Whatever you attack with Rakshasa Raja you wont get retaliation so the Puppet Master effect will not end . I attacked with the archmages the distant melee units, so no retaliation too.
I casted the Mark of the Necromancer in my Wraith stack (30 or so) and whatever was need I casted Raise Dead in that stack too.

So guess what: I had endless mana in the fight (cus of the Mark of the Necromancer) 2 powerfull puppets and a Raise Dead spell (costing 4 mana) to keep my army up.

When everything was down aexcept the Rakshasa Raja and archmages I ordered the Rakshasa Raja to kill the archmages (2 turns and the archs was dead).

At this point I only had 13 Wraiths and 1 Plague Zombie up (my arches was killed easy by the titans and I opted to raise the wraiths instead).

Basicly my strategy to kill the Rajas was t send them to the fire traps and kill them all with my heroe (turn over turn). For my luck when the Rajas was in the fire traps they defended all the time and didnt attacked at all (bug?).

So when I finally killed all the first Godric's army I only had 15 Wraiths, 1 Plague Zombie (lol, decoy) and 8 Lichs out of Death Clouds.

The strategy to kill the haven army was exactly the same.. Puppet Master, Mark of the Necromancer (which is permanent) and Rasie Dead (Wraiths).

So basicly I've wiped out the Godric's army with only a few Wraiths, 3 powerfull spells, and a extremly good brain (mine ).

Now I see that the necro faction could be so god damm powerfull with the right spells in your heroe. Remeber I had endless mana.

My final battle army was somehting like this:

30 Wraiths, 150 spectres, 260 Plague Zombies, 670 archers, 41 Vamp Lords and 30 Lichs (I didnt even upgraded the Lichs lol).

Artifacts:

Cuirass of the Dwarven King
Wings of the Angel
Ring of Caution
Ring of Lightning Protection
Cape of the Lions Mane

From now on I just need 3 spells... and you know which ones .

Too complicated...

I breezed-through the 5th scenario without all the trickery mentioned above.  The 30 Rakasha were nothing.

Simple truth... ANIMATE DEAD spell.

Liberal use of this spell BEFORE the final battle, and you'll NEVER lose a single undead unit for the entire scenario.  We're talking over 1,000 skeleton archers again for the final battle... also arch liches and spectral dragons, all of which can never die (animate dead spell, remember).

Oh, and if you have summoning at expert... a Phoenix in your ranks goes through 30 Rakasha like a hot knife through butter.

I won this scenario with BRUTE STRENGTH... no trickery... 1,000+ archers, lots of liches and dragons and a phoenix make this scenario a cake walk.

I had a full-strength army after subduing Godric's first army, and his second army was wasted in seconds as soon as it appeared without a sweat!

Thank you so much Cr7pt0r & Wolfshanze. Now i can sleep in peace, coz i just finish it with my powerful wraith hehe. I use my own strategy for that battle except one : puppet master on rakshasa raja as Cr7ptor mentioned. Then the rest were easy. Thx again.

Markal's Final battle : 30 Wraiths & 900+ skellies left...

man, i love phantom force... not only AI targeting them first but initiate immediately after the summoning...

Did you BUY the Bone Dragons, or recruit them from neutral stacks... one rumor I heard is that it doesn't work if you purchased them.
