Depends on how bad they are. If you don't die from it, your brain will take a day or two off. The effect is similar to vodka, I guess, but this s**t f**ks you up faster. 
After that you may need to go see a doctor (one of the guys in my high school in Russia spent a month in a hospital being treated from poisoning).

Are you talking about vodka or peyote ? Russ, if you're talking about mushrooms, I can definitely tell you never ever had one of those. Trust me, mate, their effect has strictly nothing to do with what you described above.

Nah, Peyote is not a mushroom, it's a cactus(?) that some Native Americans take. After they ingest it, their soul leaves their body and goes on a spiritwalk where they can talk to dead ancestors and commune with the gods. Pretty cool for something you can just pull out of the ground.
It's kind of endangered now though because it turns out that a lot the white suburban kids also like going on spiritwalks and talking to dead ancestors too.

Thing is, even if it's not technically a mushroom, peyote is still the ultimate drug of the same halucinogenes category mushrooms belong to. It's basically the same kind of trip as a serious dose of mushrooms.
Like almost any drug, its effect can vary immensely depending on the mood and the circumstances in which it is taken. Alcohol isn't quite the same thing when it's at a cool party or on your own in front of the TV. Likewise, halucinogenes aren't at all the same when it's part of a shamanic rite as when it's a bunch of kids looking for exotic sensations just for the sake of it.
