Gah, I hate this mission. I´ve replayed it several times and I can't do it I've tried to capture only the first town so I can build it up before I do anything else. But the blue heroes comes anyway and i can't make it work. I've read all the walkthroughs but it doesnt help me.. Can anyone be so kind to send me a saved file? I don't want to be stuck here anymore....

Don't dream it, be it! The point is you do not have any time to lose just building your first town. You have to conquer the second (East) by the end of week 2. When you do it, there is some devil that will come to attack you but he is pretty lame (well, on normal he is lame) and some blue player heroes will also come for you. Do not panic, if Shadya is still in your first town (that you continue to build) and you have at least 1 tower, you will do just fine. Buy a hero to protect your second town (and every other you conquer until the seventh one), keep building, attacking and being agressive and you should not encounter much of a resistance. In fact, the way I see it, the Dungeon campaign is the one where you should be the more agressive (though the Sylvan one is quite hard, well, the second mission is).

One kick-arse spell: Empowered Meteor Shower.

If you don't have it by now, restart from mission 1 and build your Raelag to be a TRUE spell caster (Destructive + Sorcery). You will be surpsied how pathetic the AIs are even on heroic.

If you already have it, then try this. I did this on heroic twice, and they all gave me nice outcomes.

(1) Take the town on your west ASAP. (day 1-2).

(2) Take Raelag to a tour, starting from the sulfur mine neutrals, a counter-clockwise circle. Kill them all. Hire a new hero to do the mine flagging and resource picking. Raelag is too important to be used on those little tricks. You should only lose a few armies here (as you can kill them all with your meteor showers alone!)

(3) Take Raelag north to kill more creatures, and head to the 2nd city. Take it before the end of week 2, so you can hire another round of creatures there.

(4) Inferno No. 1 comes. Deal with it using Raelag and your entire army. Easy.

(5) Blue heroes start to swarm in. Use Raelag only as Shadya will lose you much more troops. Now until Lethos (the most troublesome) is defeated...

(6) Split troops between Raelag (mobile conquerer) and Shadya (homebase keeper). Raelag has only Deep hydra and some Minotaurs, and give everything else to Shadya. Since Raelag's spell is more than enough to clean the table, his troops serve no other purpose then to suck up some puny damage and keep the battle going. Shadya, on the other hand, will rely heavily on troops due to insufficient spell power and possibly lower level of sorcery.

(7) Send Raelag through a tour. Starting from the SW blue castle, then the middle one, then the NW, then the upper middle. Let Shadya deal with the inferno heroes and she should do fine with all the armies she has.

Map 5 is turning to ba a major PITA That b*****d Grawl hunts me down wherever I go, I can take him out but I'm left only with 1/10 of an army I had initially and reinforcements are very few. If I wait too long Inferno heroes will pick up all the neutral stacks, then I'll face more heroes with insanely large armies. Any tips appreciated

I've tried the fastest route, pick up blue key, buy war machines, go underground, through the monolith, secure the dragon dwellings and came up near fort in less than 2 weeks. In SE corner is a another military post and I can gather some 45 matriarchs and 25 hydras there. At that point, either Grawl or Marbas show up with their legions. My army, in top strength, consists of some 370 assassins, 75 matriarchs, 20 black dragons, 35 grim raiders, 80 hydras and 100 minotaur guards. When the dust settled I was left with all assassins, 20 matriarchs, 5 dragons and some 15 hydras. That's just not enough to pass through several garrisons on my way, even if I don't engage any more enemy heroes.

Anyone tried taking out Inferno towns first or is rushing a better option? Regarding spells, with lv37 meteor showers I can not win the battle, frenzy is the one that allows me to beat Grawl (frenzied archdevils killed probably half of his army), Imps take out 3/4 of my mana so I'm left with 57 mana, so it's 7x frenzy or 3x meteor shower, frenzy is the easy winner here.

You don't even have to fight against Grawl. Just sneak through the underworld until you pop up from next to the hill fort, then just run fast south past the inferno town and to the garrison at the lower left corner, with expert logistics you can do it in two turns. Grawl doesn't care about you as long as you are underground, so wait right at the bottom of the stairs first and end turn so you have full movement, then go up and run down and make sure you go from the LEFT side of the town, if you go from the right side Grawl catches you. If you go from left and wait at the side of the inferno town as near the left side as possible, Grawl can't reach you but instead goes in the town, then next turn just run through the garrison and go to the end fight and you never need to face Grawl. I never picked any creatures from any dwellings to my guys, just ran through as fast as possible.

When I got out of underworld (south of fort) I turned left (dirt road), through the garrison, towards the sanctuary, b*****d was waiting there I killed million squires and managed to hide Raelag in sanctuary and ran back towards the fort...I can outrun him even with Shadya, he has realy poor movement rate. I'll try to hop down below, maybe he'll just pass me by and head for that town north of fort, that would give me the movement edge I need...or I might try to reach the paved road but I'll have an extra garrison too beat and it's a big one. We'll see...

I just finished that map on heroic a bit ago. I went straight to the underworld at quickest route, emerging back to the surface below the hill fort at start of week 3, and moved down and saw Grawl was cowering in the town with rather puny army... like 12 archdevils, 20 or so pit lords, around 30 succubus mistress and nightmares, somewhere around hundred cerberus and couple hundred horned overseers and familiars and I ran him over easily. It appears that speed is key in this map so Grawl doesn't have time to gather a mammoth army. You can reach that hill fort place in about two weeks if you don't waste time and just rush straight through the underworld, and if you do that, Grawl is still weak enough that you can easily beat him. Fastest way is to get both keymasters tents and take the lower stairs, then just head down and right to the teleporter. You have to kill a horde of pit fiends and 900 or so spectres on the way, after the teleporter go left and down through some archdevils, and earth elementals, after that you encounter a rather weak inferno hero guarding the staircase leading up. After the stairs just straight down to the final garrison, probably good idea to destroy the town on the way, especially if Grawl is hiding in it so he doesn't ambush Shayda (who probably has next to no troops)

You need to go through the garrison at the south west corner with both Shadya and Raelag

The broken arrow means that you will do half damage due to long distance (if I recall, only the arbalest does full damage at any distance). The full arrow means full damage, full destrcution, full fun, etc.

And warding arrow means extra damage but I do not know how much (I guess it is 50% but I am not sure... anybody has the answer?)

Warding arrow reduces the target's initiative. However, I am not suer on the damage bonus part. If you have 7 stacks of master hunters and 1 stack of enemy, the enemy might not be able to act at all.

Yeah warding arrow reduces initiative, not extra damage.

I've been trying to pass this mission for weeks! (The-Cultists).
I'm stuck...the mission is to capture all of the cities and i had captured 6 (or 7 I can't remember) and yet i haven't passed this mission. it seems to be that i'm missing a city and i don't really know where the last city is.
I'd like to get a little help.

Do you mean Raelag's build? He already starts with 2 fixed, so you can pick 4 more.

I played this campaign twice on heroic, and my personal favorite (my 2nd build) is Destructive, Sorcery, Enlightenment, and Light.

There are 7 cities total. Two near your starting location, one at the lower left corner, one an the left side around middle, one at the upper left corner (behind a garrison), one middle at the top side, and the last one at the upper right corner.

Oh and here is my Raelag build.

Destructive Magic
Sorcery
Enlightenment

Well sounds like your mission is bugged then, as it should end automatically once you capture the 7th city, with a cutscene of Raelag wiping out the clan.
