well, all i used was free material (besides IE and my games), fraps, windows media player, i know them quite well now and they do the deed, so i keep using them
for resoluation, i dunno, what game are you videoing again? but don't worry about it, when the videos hit youtube, they are very very small, and tiny glishes are nothing to be concerned about, good luck
@Pan: can you rename this thread, fraps and youtube help, because i think they go hand in hand and we've covered them quite well here

Hi,
- Thanks,Will. Appreciated. On a side note, maybe my vid's are a bit blurry because I have the 2.5 version of Fraps ? And yeah, make it a YouTube/Fraps topic instead

No Problem Sphere.
I have a theory as to why your videos might be a bit blurry.
Well, it might be to do with either what you said about having an old version of fraps, or perhaps because you are recording with 800x600 (is that right?), and the resolution might be decreased while Youtube Resizes it, and also the size is decreased into something smaller and it might decrease quality and cause blurriness.
Have you tried playing your video on full screen within Youtube and seeing if that makes it not so blurry?
I have seen some perfect videos, been turned into pretty bad quality because of the way Youtube Uploads it.
It might not be your actual video, but it might be Youtube.

Quote: fps is the Frames per Second, so 30 is better than 20, and 60 is best (it gives better graphics!)
Hi,
- Well I sorta guessed,Teddy ... ups make that ; I have found out the hard way ....BUT I have just recorded a vid ( 60FPS and 40FPS to experiment ) and when I play the 60/40FPS ..MAN it's laggy in WMP11 - BUT not in 30FPS and under! . So my question is, do I have to record at the standard setting ( for YouTube - 8x6 / 640x480 ) then save it as 320/240 in WMM ( raw file 320x240.wmv ) and under/= 30FPS to get a decent vid ?
- Well It would be easier if I just revealed my already uploadeed ones, but I am old school and my spoken aswell as my written english kinda sucks ..so I have chosen to go this way about it

Sphere, maybe it is the computers that might make it a bit blurry or whatever?
Could you give me a link to just one of your videos, and I can see if it is fine and whatnot?

Hi,
- Well It would be easier if I just revealed my already uploadeed ones, but I am old school and my spoken aswell as my written english kinda sucks ..so I have chosen to go this way about it that kinda says it,, not that I'm not a man of my word or anything, I like to see ( in this case ) my old threads/ posts and the errors and the like I'd made. but still I am new to this YouTube / upload and when I'm good and ready I'll just post my vid's - I think many can relate to that
- Anywhoo's I've just made a few vid's with 30-60FPS and uploaded them. just going to see what the outcome is going to be <--- Those I will remove if it's totally crap i.e. lag.

Okay fair enough.
If you have any more problems or questions, just post.
I am sure that I could help, or Ted could help.

Hi,
- Think I have found a way to make ( Well Heroes V/ToE ) movies longer for when you want them on YouTube.
1) Use the replay option of the battle(s) you want to use.
( This cut's the file(s) size down considerably as to if you just used Fraps/VD )
2) Then start Fraps ( VD ) and record your replays ( from within the replay option in the game ).
3) Start Windows Movie Maker and create your little masterpiece.
* Of course you can record with Fraps alone if you want cutscenes and other stuff, just remember it's more mb heavy than the abovementioned.
* As you may or may not know, you can't see the actual spellbook animation / tile(s) when you use the replay option. But the text on screen is now readable so it dosen't really matter
