| Dante's Inferno - the Video Game?
You heard it right, and it makes me happy. Dante's "The Divine Comedy" is begin immortalized in a game by EA called "Dante's Inferno" set for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

 It looks good.

Yeah, and that's what I said about Sonic the Hedgehog '06 when I saw the graphics.

But it's Dante's Inferno, so could it NOT be good?

| I've got high hopes for this project. From the trailers, the developers have a good vision and are capitalising on it.
having said that, I can see why alot of people won't like this. something about the gameplay=godofwar or something.

Because, if it wasn't for EA's plans to make money on it, no one would ever know about the Divine Comedy...

...that sentence is so sad. Care to explain the "being" immortalized? Do you actually have any idea what Dante's Comedy is. If you do, you should see how such a game is basically just ripping off a big name and destroying everything "The Divine Comedy" stands for.

 It is so sad...

As I said, won't please everyone

EA have a bad name for themselves when it comes to games, but recently, they are trying to shed that by releasing games like Brutal Legends, Red alert 3, Dead space.

I can understand that people will be worried about what happens to the Divine comedy in the hands of a money-grabbing games giant, but we won't know until it has a playable demo.

Actually I'm pretty sure we all know what's going to happen with the Divine comedy and it involves a lot of whiped cream, latex body suits, whips, bird droppings, manbearpig, the Blizzards production staff and VAN DER SEX... well atleast story wise.

No matter what comes out of it the fact that it will be a god of war-ish games means that it will butcher the "Divine Comedy"s theme. It can still be a good game (if you're into that sort of thing) but it will rape Dantes masterpiece.

But I'll stop being an idealist (for now...) and let this thread get back to normal. Sorry~~~

If anyone gets interested in the book as a result of this travesty it has been a necessary evil to further civilize the people in these dark times where Twilight reigns over the minds of fangirls and general disregard for the ways of thought and the arts has become a mainstream pasttime. So suck it up and go play the grand piano while enjoying a nice glass of vintage Château du Moulin Noir; that ought to make you feel a little better.

| Divina Comedia is the exploring of the medieval christian vision on the afterlife through the eyes of the monk/ poet, Dante Aligheri. He descends down into hell where he meets Virgil and travels upwards. I won't need to go any further, because what EA is going to do is take that oart, throw Dante out and perhaps Virgil (or possibly make Virgil look like and undead Achilles), put in Kratos, except more dead and let him battle through the several layers of hell. The pitch sounds good, but Dante's inferno shouldn't have been involved with this.
Also, divina comedia should only be read by scholars, because the true meaning of every sentence is impossible to divulge for the people who are untrained in latin and medieval philosophy.
