@Fauch: it has bits and pieces from the H5 lich model, I've sewn them together in PS.
I don't like the crown either, but the H5 lich helmet looked even more ridiculous when I tried it, so I just stole the weaver's one. If you find something more suited on the interwebz I'll gladly update.
@Nightterror: I did intend to change the staff but I ran out of ideas. Got any suggestions?

That Lich is pure ****ing awesome.
Seriously I gotta post the normal Lich beside this one just to see how much work you've done. AMAZING. I especially like how the green aura at the back look like wings of energy... badass!

The necropolis always needed retouch since Heroes 3.
I like Skull-Version Lamasu,as for your question.Don't mess with hero models or faces,for my thought,just let them be like they are.You can also do something more creating than replacing the Glories and Spring Spirits.
For example,let's take Stronghold(the worst-looking faction in this installation),you could make male Centaurs,and make them mythical accurate half-horses,not half-zebras.You could re-model the cyclops to "muscular" instead of "fat",just like Heroes 5.You might also remodel harpies like Heroes 3,and orc warriors/shamans with LotR styled equipment.
Inferno would need a bit retouch with the succubi(smaller horns maybe) and the Hell Hounds/Cerberi need a proper remodelling to look Infernal,like Heroes 3.

ok, I've added a more traditional hat to our lich, changed the staff to Sandro's, and added some more colors
it's starting to stray from the greeny spikey H6 direction though

no way 
they can't even make new models for water and light elementals.
the helmet is really an awesome touch. it gives it some kind of egyptian or mesopotomian look (well, maybe I'm completely wrong lol) that goes well with the lamasu I think.
