AD&D 2nd Edition???

Anybody know of a good web site that could explain to me what AD&D 2nd Edition rules are?

I recently bought Baldur's Gate 2 and I have no idea how much of it works.

Just a few of the SEVERAL questions I have:

If I have a sword with 1d10, what does that mean?

What is Armor Class?

What are the benefits of resting and how exactly does the magic system work?

These are the kinds of questions I have.  Any help or references would be great.

Thx

chub u need a book lol.. too much details on it... ima prefere starwars old 1d6 system which is the best..

The lower the
thac0, the better a player is able to hit. The combat strikes are
calculated on a dice roll dependent on hr, dr, and other aspects such as a
weapons dice (4d2 for example).
Damroll is a bonus added to your damage in hand-to-hand combat or when
fighting with a weapon. Every weapon has a "damage dice" which is
represented by 2 numbers in the form x d y. The number x is the AMOUNT
of dice rolled and the number y is the number of sides on the dice rolled.
i.e. a weapon that does 4d5 would mean the game rolls 4 dice, each with
5 sides, to determine the damage done by a single hit by this weapon.
Armor Class AC is a rating of how much armor your character is wearing.
The lower your AC the harder it is for others to hit you with
a hand-to-hand attack. What this means is that AC has no bearing on spell
casting.

Equipment can affect your AC in two ways: an Armor affect or an AC-apply
affect. The number in the Armor affect is a direct change to your AC Any
piece of equipment can affect your AC in this way. The number in the
AC-apply affect, which appears only on equipment of type ARMOR affects
your AC differently depending on where it is worn. Shields and body armor,
for instance, have a greater impact on your AC than gloves or boots.

etc.. etc... too much stuff

I don't think there is a site for it, but I happen to have 2 of the core rulebooks.

It means that the sword does 1 to 10 damage.

What is Armor Class?

If you don't know this, I'm surprised. Armor Class (or AC) is your armor/defense. I'd have to look it up, but I think that in AD&D 2nd Edition, the lower your AC is, the harder you are to hit. I think the worst AC is 10, and the best is -10. Wearing armor will improve your AC.

Resting for a certain period of time will revive some of your HP. I think that the ratio is 1hr of rest=1 HP revived.

I think the magic system behaves like this:
Priest Spells are in domains called "Spheres".
Wizard Spells are in domains called "Schools".
You must take time to memorize each spell you think you will need in the day. If you memorize it, you can cast it only once, unless you memorize it again at the start of the day. Some spells require you to have a material component, such as a berry. Wearing different types of armor can decrease your chance of succeeding in casting a spell.

Whoa!!! pretty indepth stuff

that was my major problem, i bought a game pack.  It came with Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and it also came with the expansion Throne of Bhaal.  Unfortunately, it came without a manuel lol.  From what you said and after doing so internet searching, it appears I can buy an entire book of just AD&D 2nd Edition rules lol.  Thanks for the info you provided though, that will make things much easier for the time being.

If you would like a website to see a good summary, then go to my Battle Your Enemies Thread. It has a link that goes to a website with an awesome page that explains just about all you'll need to know for Baldur's Gate.
