Why Does WoG replace Shadows Of Deaths??
Hi everybody...
First of sorry if I ask stupid questions...I'm quite new to all of this. I have the "Heroes III Complete" Version, including all three Add-Ons in one single program! What I wanna know now is, how can I see what version that Heroes III.exe is? I have an update to version 1.4, should I install it, or is that just for the normal "Heroes III Restauration of Erathia"?
Other than that, I wanna know why WoG replaces my Shadows Of Death Campaigns? Is that the way it works?

For the version test, you only have to make a right mouse-click on the ".exe-file". There you can read the date and the version!
And for your WoG question, i do not really know, but I think SoD is the base of WoG, so it has to be replaced.
If I´m wrong, a WoG specialist could explain it better I hope.

Heroes Campaigns
You should still be able to run the SOD campaigns if you start up H3 in the SOD mode and not the WOG mode.
(In other words, click on the SOD icon instead of the WOG icon)

Thanks everybody... I figured out how to play the SoD Campaigns too!
But for the version... Right-click on the Heroes3.exe under Version it says Version 4.0.0.0... Is that the newest?
Again, it's the Heroes III Complete version of the game...

Again, it's the Heroes III Complete version of the game...
I don't own Heroes 3 Complete, but as far as I know, it includes all the patches for SoD already and doesn't require any additional patches.

Heroes 3 Restoration of Erathia = version 1.0
Heroes 3 Armageddons Blade = version 2.0
Heroes 3 Shadow of Death = version 3.0
Heroes 3 Wake of Gods = version 4.0
All higher versions INCLUDE all patches of the lower versions!
So if you have the 4.0, you have included the latest SoD patches (3.3 i think).

Well that's not entirely correct. First of all, Wake of Gods is version 3.5 (actually 3.50 through 3.57f but I believe only 3.5 will show up when you check "version" of the exe file). It's Heroes 3 Complete that's 4.0.
Secondly, patches to RoE came out came out even after AB and SoD were released so SoD 3.0 does not necessarily have all updates that RoE 1.4 has, although SoD 3.2 (the final SoD patch) does.
However, for H3 Complete, version 4.0, I believe this is correct and that it is essentially equivalent to SoD 3.2 plus AB 2.x (whatever the final AB patch was) but may have some minor internal changes.
WoG is based on the US English version of SoD 3.2. I've not certain if you need to patch the SoD file before installing (if using SoD rather than Complete) or if it doesn't matter -- I'll have to ask Slava sometime. When I reinstalled Heroes, I patched it anyway, just to be sure.

Yes you can WoGify the SoD campaigns. But you need the SoD campaigns to do that. We have them on Campaign Archives II just for this reason.
