3DO site for maps
I think 3DO should introduce a site that gives us all the chance to show off our great maps and campaigns.
Right now we are limited to sites that are made by the fans.
If 3DO was to make a site for us, we would not have to search the net for maps, but just know where to go.
This would be like you get multiplayer gaming links when you start the homm 3 cd. (Zone, heat and mplayer)
It would be easy for us to find maps and 3DO can really do a lot of things with the maps.
e.g. let us rate the maps after they rate the maps themselves, wich would make it more interesting for us to make maps.
On the site 3DO can also give us map-editor updates for things we would like to see improved. When i was making maps for homm 3, i liked to have a big story line and make it all come true, but most things were not possible to be done, ie conquer half the land before you can get to certain points of the map, wich goes for all players (risk style).
I have lots of more ideas for this site, but if you guys think itīs not a good idea, i would just be wasting my time here, since it will never be here. But if you think itīs a good idea, i will mail this to 3DO because i am very excited about such a site.

That's a nice idea, but I think 3DO expects the fan sites to do that. Why spend time and money on a map site when other people (myself included) will do it for free. There are at least half a dozen of *very good* Heroes fan sites on the Net, and they are rather easy to find.

you are missing the point
If 3DO makes this site, it will save them a lot of time and money. Usually when 3DO releases an expansion pack, it includes about 35 new maps.
The site would be visited often and lots of new maps will be uploaded by fans. 3DO could easily pick 35 maps from them and use them in expansion packs.
This would show appreciation towards the fans and they could also concentrate more on creating new creatures/towns/heroes/etc.
Fans could still make their own map sites, but donīt you think this would be a smart move if 3DO did such a thing?

And then as soon as the fans maps are used 3DO gets sued as other games creators have been. Hence the greed of people kills the goal and their original (usually) intent. 3DO would not use such things even with disclaimers I would imagine since the others in the industry have already been there and still got sued as I understand.

This thread is pretty useless, because the whole idea was to get us make maps for 3DO so they could make more creatures and stuff, cause i'm not really found of the maps 3DO makes for us lol.
Oh well, just another idea into the garbage can.
