Bug late in the game: HoMM3

I'm new to the forum (and forums in genereal), so please excuse any breach of etiquette or other obvious manifestations of ignorance.

However, I ran into a bug playing HoMM3 having to do with Monoliths and the game crashing in what I presume is the first scenario of the very last campaign (of the original game, no expansion pack).  When a hero (any hero) visits a monolith (so far, any monolith), the game crashes (quits to desktop without warning).

As far as I know I have the latest update (as old as that is).  This does not happen with any other scenarios I have found, only this one.  Is it fatal?  Is there a fix?  Have others even had this problem?

Any input would be useful.  Thanks!

I believe it is just the original Heroes of Might and Magic III the came out in 1999, not the expansion pack or any of the other editions.  Besides that, I have downloaded and installed the available update, which is up to version 1.4.  I tried looking for the documentation that would specify which HoMM3 it is, but I can't find it.  All it says on the (original) cd is "Heroes of Might and Magic III".

I found it -- it is the Restoration of Erathia.  The first scenario of the last campaign is presenting the problem:  Seeds of Discontent, The Grail.  So far any hero visiting any monolith crashes the game entirely.  I would like to fix the problem. However, if it can't be fixed I suppose if anyone just knows where the grail is and can tell me, that would work too.

Thanks.

The grail is, if I remember correctly behind angels, on swamp terrain.

Thanks everyone -- I found the grail last night thru trial and error (after I had figured out it was in the swamp).  Still never figured out the bug though -- which is annoying all by itself.

I'll try the restarting the scenario thing... Might work.
