I already said, I don't have my H3 Complete Play Disc right now, as I loaned it to a friend.
But, perhaps you can give us the event log when you cast the spell, and tell us what school you cast it from and what expertise you hero has?

I tried it with 4 different heroes, everyone with a different type of magic scholl as secondary skill on expert.
And i fought with them against all 4 different elemental units.
When they fought against the fire-elementals, it occurs always the same message. "That spell will affect no one"
