Brain Dump - Help wanted!

What are some things that you have seen in other strategy games that you have not seen in a Heroes game? Perhaps if we can get all these ideas together on one page, we can combine them meaningfully in a way that would benefit Heroes best.

Here are my current contributions-
-Build Times and Hurrying (for buildings only)
-Researchable Technology (might not be a good thing for Heroes)
-City Leaders (like in MOO2 for instance)
-Workers (definitely not something I would want to see in Heroes, but I'll list it nonetheless)
-Ability to directly attack from Adventure map (as in, not going to combat screen)
-Random Events (similar to month of- and week of-, but for more things... but with scripting this is probably detrimental)
-Ability to deform the Adventure map in various ways
-Upkeep (somewhat antithetical to the concept of Heroes, I think)
-"Magic" Resource (from Disciples, AOW, and a few others)
-Dynamic Alliances, Various kinds of Treaties (I personally don't like it, but many seem to)
-Micromanagement (listed for completeness)

There's probably a ton more things I didn't even think of too! Hopefully somebody will see a way to put all this together in a way that benefits Heroes- discarding the chaff and enhancing the valuable parts. Any more ideas?

Splendid idea, I am so excited I will freaking say so imediately!

Ok, a strategy essence we cant really take into consideration is like utilizuing the controler with first person slicing. (although where the Player takes turns in first person, while in a zoomed out paused position issues commands is a different thread)

Strategies from SIM CITY
Direct population morale, birth/death, and health control. Perhaps other elements non mentioned.

From Strong hold
U do most work harvesting, compared to HOMM where you only flag a mine, and tax the same way all the time (IE 1 gem a day, or 1000 gold a day).
Perhaps if you can TAX your flagged mines without possibility of detering them. You can use FEAR or compassion. Or anything else.

Although, your humans/peons in town can move in and take over the job after the original miners are gone somehow. Perhaps original miners are more experienced or hard working. And the BOSSes who determine (mathmaticly) how much is done with what *Math* is existant with the workers.

Of course, all towns can build whatever they want with whatever resources they have, and they can induce themselves into a world of technology teaching people to work for them.

Alas, I have said so much already. Hire me, and I will continue drasticly

Shirastro,
This is not a thread for judgement, this is just a thread for posting ideas. Initially they are all randomly assembled. Then once someone sees a good way to connect and/or modify them in a way benefitting the Heroes series, they post it.
It may not be apparent how these things can improve Heroes, but most of these ideas are common to other TBS games. So there must be something about them that makes them fundamentally good ideas. We just have to figure out how it applies to Heroes. Of course a few things will be irreconcilable, but you can't judge it before it reaches the table!

Celfious,
Nice work! Keep the ideas comin, although some of it is hard to understand since I've never played Stronghold. Why are there bosses, and what do they have to do with resources? (can't get resources till you beat the boss?)

Maybe you said before, but I'll say:

I think some things I don't see are:

UPKEEP:

Shows how many units of the type you can have. Limits the population.

I do not want this feature though.

EXPERIENCE METER:

Most RPG have experience meters instead of experience amount. I think we could add the meter and when clicked on it it would show the experience amount.

Agree 111% with this idea!

SPELL TABLE:

Well, this would be a feature when your hero enters the town and tries to learn spells. A table appears with what spells to choose (1 lvl = 5) (2 lvl = 4) (3 lvl = 3) etc.

This could be in the game. Pretty interesting.

VIOLENCE ACTION:

Melee combat between heroes with brutal force using their fists and legs to fight. Damage is the same as when using the weapon.

Maybe used.

RAGE:

Makes the hero itself able to double damage for one attack, but loses 20% HP immediately. This would be an ability but interesting.

NIGHT & DAY:

Make the screen of the town with many weather effects and daytimes: night, day, sunset, sunrise and snowstorm, firestorm, pluvious, etc.
This would be included in town screen only, but it would affect the combat map during its siege: (snowy, terrain changed, etc.)

Well, one of the best ideas that could appear.
