Not only download the setupreg.exe file...put it in your main H3 directory (where H3.exe is located) and RUN it. Restart comp...re-enter Gamespy. Then it should be fine.
If still a problem. check if u have 2 different Heroes versions installed.

MSN Zone closed the room for Heroes 3 years ago. You can meet on Gamespy lobby though. How to go there is described in the first post of this thread.

How do I make a map normally 1v1v1v1 to be a 2v2, with 2 humans against 1 human and 1 ai? I don't know how to manipulate alliances in the multiplayer games.

Me and my friend had some problems aswell. We're using both hamachi and another program called 'battle lan'. After using both of the programs we're able to join eachothers games.
How battlelan works:
Simply get the IP of the one hosting the one hosting the game which he can find at http://www.whatismyip.com/
- Write the IP in the 'IP Adress' field, then press ADD.
- Then simply target the IP adress, and press Start.
You're now connected with the host of the game. Using both 'Battle lan' and hamachi made it possible for me and my friend to play.
Battle Lan can be downloaded at http://home.comcast.net/~sonicsmart/battlelan.html
I hope this'll help some of you.

Greetings HC members
After reviving my interest in HoMM3 at a recent LAN with some friends I eventually found this place. (Trying to get a strategical edge on my friends!) I learned a lot and now feel ready to play some online games. Are there still anyone around? Active veterans? Or just newbies like myself?
Regarding maps/templates: What's a solid 1vs1 template other than Jebus? I tried Blockbuster and it seems alright except that some random unwanted blocks occasionally occur and the fact that the second/third town is forced necro?
Best regards,
Thomas

Quote: Hi, I came upon this community while googling for answers to my problems. I did use the search function but I really can't find much regarding the problem I have.
My friend and I recently got a Netgear FS605 v3 Switch, which we used to set up a local LAN wherein we do not share internet or anything like that. We can share files via our connection, we are in the same workgroup, our IP's are 192.168.0.1 and 0.2 respectively. I only knew to do these things from googling stuff.
We played Baldur's gate 2 together with TCP/IP and our local IP addresses and it worked fine. However, in both Icewind Dale II and Heroes 3, we cannot find one another's IP. I mention Icewind Dale II just because it seems so strange that we can use this LAN for Baldur's Gate 2 and not Icewind Dale II, and then not HOMM3 either.
So when he types in my IP address, 192.168.0.1, HOMM3 says it cannot find the IP. We both make sure all our other connections are disabled other than our LAN. We can share files and we can play some other games via LAN.
However, I'm a total noob about these technical issues, so there's probably something I'm missing. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't think that port forwarding even applies in this situation, does it?
Thanks for any help.
Try using hamachi. if that doesn't work, try using both hamachi + battlelan. info about battlelan can be found in a previous post by me, at page 22 in this thread

That wasn't a whole lot of replies :-(
Are there any known hamachi groups where people play? I have some issues with gamespy so that's pretty much ruled out as an option. Otherwise I could host TCP/IP myself and post my "ip" here. Anyone?

That's only possible on hotseat mode (means, all players sit in front of the same computer).

Hi.
Me and a friend got some serious issues with the game. We both have Heroes Of Might and Magic 3 COMPLETE, updated to the newest version. Whenever we want to make a game the joiner (non-host) just gets "Receiving map headers from host"
We only have 2 maps in the "Maps" folder as suggested on the forums. We forwarded the following ports:
2300 to 2400 UDP (trigger port = 6073)
28800 to 29100 TCP (trigger port = 6667)
47624 TCP and UDP
TCP and UDP port 2300
DMZ is enabled on the host. Neither one of us got any firewall protection. We tried with and without hamachi, thats a no go aswell.
Does anyone have any suggestion on what to do?

If everybody appears in the player's menu of the host, ports shouldn't be much of a problem. If u get the message "Recieving maps from the host" (which is pretty normal), and it stays like that for longer than 10-15 seconds, you should try and check the following:
1. Be 100% sure you have at least 1 map in your map folder, and not more than 5. Maybe you checked the wrong folder (happened to many others...)
2. If host has enabled DMZ, no port forwarding is needed, coz DMZ puts the internal IP of your comp (host) "out" of the firewall, therfore ports are not present anymore.
3. I am not sure why u forwared the range 2300-2400 only on UDP, but the port 2300 later on both (UDP+TCP). You're always on the secure site if you forward both ranges (resp. both trigger ports) on TCP and UDP.
4. What version of hamachi do u both use?
