Today I was trying to play HoMM 3 online using GameRanger. Unfortunately, though all of us could connect to the room, only two of us (randomly) joined the actual game and for the third one the game crashed after some time of wainting. Is there any setting in GameRanger or Heroes that covers the number of players (in GameRanger it is set to 3, but maybe there's another setting somewhere else).

Got Heroes 3 complete on both notebooks, disabled firewals, set dmz zone to host pc, installed gameranger but still same error: Receiving map headers from host...
Tried even tcpip in multiplayer options, but still same error. I think this error have something to do cause we are both in same network and have same external ip adress but im not sure. Got only 2 maps on host pc in maps folder.

This is often an error if the host has deleted ALL of his maps in the map folder instead of keeping at least ONE.

well well well...

Why he or she has deleted single-player-maps ? Does it mean, that the host will be able to play only campaigns and random maps, but not fixed maps.. ?
Anyway I do not know where can I ask about a mathematical formula which tell that how much damage an attacker makes to defender in a battle.. So could someone paste that formula here ? I hope you understood...

many players that prefer online games against other people delete their scenario maps keeping just one. This means there is less data to transfer between the 2 players at the start of the game or at the end of each turn.So it's a practical measure to make the game faster in multiplayer and it has no downside whatsoever as people play random maps in most online games.

Glad to see you are still around Angelito. Zelda and I loaded up heroes3 last month and we just finished a game tonight.

Same problem here, both with hamachi and gameranger.
If not playing WoG, then more than two can join but as soon as the third player's turn is about to commence, he drops from connection failure.
This is royally frustrating... I can't imagine anyone actually got this to work for real.
How would you go about doing that?

Oh and I should mention that me and my three friends have tried both hamachi 1.0.1.5 and gameranger. Sometimes we get lucky and we can all actually join someone's game.
But, as soon as the host is done with his turn, things mess up and people begin dropping from the game until there are only two left, and then it's stable.
no firewalls, all ports open in all routers, same versions (same torrent...).
Does anyone actually get to play this game over internet with more than 2 players? I can't imagine.

Would be interesting to know if
- ALL participants tried to be the host once?
- you tried it with different game versions? (SOD, WoG, etc...)

As I mentioned, if we don't use WoG but instead H3 complete, then the chances of joining someone's game increases, but from there the problems are the same regardless of version.
Every single one of us has tried to host. Sometimes 3 or even 4 can join, but mostly just 2. The rest get 'IP not found'. Donkey balls.

Me and my friend have the version of HOMM3 complete 4.0.0.0
We checked our ip adresses from whatsmyip.com
But we can't play the game online. Every time it says ''That ip adress was not found''
Any ideas why?

You may have a router.
Go to www.gameranger.com, create FREE accounts and play Homm3 there. Quite easy to arrange a game there.
