no thats not true... i did that i know all the artifacts and all their locations and where they are most likely to appear and when 
you cant get them all. after a certain time they are replaced by junk worth 1 gold. this happened to me when i only had 3 to go.

if you Know the game well you can cauri early after geting the Dragon in Garote Gorge and she began with Master of all element magic with all expert spell .
BTW i finished 3 SOLO Dark elf ,Troll and Lich i began a cleric solo that was never finished and played a no training game with a Knight hiring aand dismissing charcter all the time but aall my saved game are lost

solo... thats pretty good excpet i like having people in my party even if theyre useless...
ha that reminds me of the time when i was in the water elemental plane on an average level of 40, with the best characters in the game and they were all dead as soon as i entered except for my knight battling on with her ever faithful spiritslayer and terminus, carrying all the dead bodies through the whole thing until every single elemental was dead. hehe.

That has happened to me too, for many annoying times.  It´s nasty when there are War Clubs in chests that once contained Elsenrails and other nice artifacts! I´m not sure, but I think I once collected all of them. (or at least nearly) It´s hard, and I did it on my 1st savegame, the one I played insanely.

yeah. my record is 3 Terminus', 3 Golementhals, 8(!) Swords of Whistlebone, 3 Noblebone bows, 2 of various and a few spiritslayers, along with 1 of all the rest except; *shudder*
-That armour for vampires, cant recall the name
-Staff of the Swamps
-Heralds Boots i think it was
thats as far as ive gone, on my game where all i wanted to do was a) kill every single living thing in the game (yes its possible) and b)get every artifact. I achived a  but not b 
love the secret tree in Ravenshore, but i only found a secret artifact rock in Ironsand towards the end and i only got Wrym Splitter.

Was it Herald´s lost Shield or something like that? Prevents Disease, Poison, Paralyze and Stoning. I´m not sure, but there is a shield like that.

you are thinking of Herondales Lost Shield.
I am thinking of Heralds Boots:
the reason i wasnt sure was that i wasnt sure if i had this one. i did, it was this that i was missing;
whaever this one is!
dont make any false assumptions though: im not german or whatever language this is in! i got these off google and i dont know what the spear or the armour that i never got are...

I just bought this game off ebay again!!!
This time I'm definately getting all the relics on a character, might go for vampire, maybe cleric or troll. See what level I can get them to
I'll try solo someone. Solo necro, would be insanely hard lol
Might see how fast I can beat the game too, with a knight (by far the easiest)
Can't wait until it's delivered

Just when I was about to ask why there weren't any Might & Magic Forums at the Heroes Community, I find this thread
While Might & Magic VIII isn't my favorite, it is quite a good game and worth replaying. I'm in the middle of a game right now … just got the Alliance Quest & unflooded Balthazar's Maze. I made sure to get the Alliance Quest BEFORE doing this one so the Minotaurs would repopulate as soon as I returned.  It's been a long time since I last played it so I have forgotten some stuff but I'm really having fun.
