The Legend of Zelda, GC

Yes, the ultimate mid evil magic game will be released in 2005, but this leaves super-zelda fans, such as myself worried about what changes Nintendo will make, will they change from the Ocarina of Time's super-happy-fun time style, or will they invent a new set up and hyrule? (I'm not worried about Link, this new model file looks sweet)
I personaly find it annoying how they've basicly nicknamed it Lengend of Zelda, the (tentative title)...

All Zelda Fans welcome

Yeah I've heard bad reviews on Windwaker. Basically what I found is that only the hardcore Zelda fan is gonna like it. It's no Ocarina of Time. Seriously I hadn't played that game for like 3, 4 years or so. And then I got Zelda Collector's Edition and a Gamecube.

The first time I played it, I...

Please don't kill me... *whimpers*

I used a Player's Guide. And I must say it ruined the game. But after getting to the water temple and remembering how incredible the dungeons are. How clever they are. How long and complicated the Water Temple was. I mean I'd have been on that temple for like a month if I wasn't lucky enough that there was a room in the basement right below that middle room. It's the big tower like building in the room inside the main room. I checked the map and saw a room under it and that it led to another room with a key in it. I seriously would have never thought to go in that room, raise the water level and then go back down beneath the floating block if I didn't see that.

The puzzle solving is simply amazing. The first 3 dungeons aren't bad. Probably still hard on the first time player for N64 Zelda, but they are really quite easy imo.

To be honest, I'd like to see a level where it's a huge maze and you don't get the map or the compass. Basically the idea is that you never know what room you are in. If you remember the Forest Temple and how you have the twisted rooms etc. I think something really intricate like that where you have numerous rooms that switch like that and rooms look nearly identical.

This would of course be the last and final dungeon. It would be the ultimate labyrinth. I guess I just want something more disorienting than the Water Temple, cause I beat it remembering basically nothing in just a few hours. Granted it was very difficult. But it wasn't this is impossible.

Like one thing I didn't like all that much is when you get like direct information from deku scrubs or the Goron's that you free. That was annoying. I'd have preferred that you'd give a more subtle hint.

But to be honest. I really liked Majora's Mask, but for different reasons. I thought the overall concept behind the game was really cool. There were some parts of the game I didn't like. The temples should have either been ridiculously long and difficult or there should have been an entire world on the moon with more dungeons. Of course these dungeons would have to be way harder.

I did enjoy having all the side quests in the game, however I would never give that up for a few awesome dungeons.

Imo the only problem with Majora's Mask is that while very good. It's only half a Zelda Game. A zelda game with 4 dungeons ain't a Zelda game. It's half a zelda game.

zelda games are great, ive passed em all except 2nd zelda game on nintendo where me and friend only made it to shadowlink.

And majoras mask where i got stuck at water temple... dont like the MM concept though. Without doubt the worst zelda game, having to transport in time every now and then makes the feeling go away IMO and has no addictiveness.

The time warp thing wasn't that cool to me. What I liked was how the masks had abilities and you could turn into Deku Scrub or Goron etc...

I would have like to see the guys that transformed have their own special weapons that you could find.

What I would like to see in the new Zelda is the good aspects of Ocarina of Time, the great storyline, the ingenious puzzle solving, the long grueling, difficult dungeons, but more importantly many dungeons. I want a long ass game.

But also the good aspects that were in Majora's Mask. Transforming into creatures, and a plethera of side quests are nice to. I got pretty into those side quests.

I just like that aspect, because like after you beat the game you can go back and do the side quests.

But seriously if they made a Zelda game concentrated on good story, good gameplay and then as a kicker made it have like 12 or 16 dungeons and then a bunch of side quests... Man that would be sweeter than sweet.

Yes, if they make something better than Ocarina of Time, I'll buy a Gamecube, a TV to play it on and the game itself, just to play it. But apparently, tastes are different. Majora's Mask ticked me so off that I never finished it (although I did get quite far). Only four dungeons, a phoney save system, taking different shapes is funny, but having to flip back and forth 20 times per minute is annoying. The dungeons were set up poorly and had little character. The storyline was off-topic, ZELDA WASN'T THERE, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. I mean, a Zelda game without Zelda???

It should have been called Adventure's of Link, but Zelda is the name that sells. And guarantee shareholders would want that.

I found the 1st one the best, then the 3rd one, and the Wind Waker for GC, although im almost possitive if i played four swords it would be my new favorite. alas i cant find 65$ plus tax to buy it

i didnt like the N64 versions, but after playing the GC one, i think i could get back into the 64 versions as there almost the same.

If you ever are in need of a Zelda challenge, two words:

Master Quest

**** ****, that game is hard! I didn't think I'd ever have to think that hard to beat the FIRST HALF of a Zelda game (yes, I've only gotten through half. HALF D*MNIT!). But OoT (even when impossible) is still the ultimate Zelda game. Majora's Mask was nice, Wind Waker--I don't want to talk about Wind Waker, but Ocarina of Time still owns them all. You can't beat the best!

But seriously, if you have a GC and love Zelda, find a copy of Master Quest, you won't regret it. Well, you will, but you'll get over it after you stop beating your head against the wall. I'd recommend eBay to find a copy, though you might also ask around at your local video game shop.

Well, it seems that once again tastes differ. I'm playing the Windwaker right now, and I actually like it. You get used to the graphics quite quickly and while I admit that it is a bit of a child-oriented game, it is still fun. At least, there's a good amount of story and characters.

But don't worry. The creator himself has declared that while the Windwaker was indeed more oriented towards a younger audience, the new Zelda game will be more for a mature audience. And I should say that in the preview, you see Link in front of a castle, which I find looking an awful lot like Hyrule Castle. So there's a good chance that Hyrule returns to the scene (speaking of which, the Windwaker takes place in Hyrule, just in a different way).

I GREET ALL ZELDA FANS OUT THERE!

Well, yes.. everybody seems to have their opinions about Zelda....

I would like to start saying that I would never use a walkthrough on Zelda, no matter how hard it is at times. (Well, I used it in Ocarina of time to find all the skulltulas, but I wouldn't use guide on the dungeons or something that has to do with the main quest)
Walkthroughs will ruin your game experience. The thing about Zelda is to explore, find, test items and approach problems in every different way you can think of.

The best Zelda game ever is Ocarina of Time, in my opinion. This is the game with the best storyline, the best atmosphere, music and so on. And like Marelt Ekiran said.. Zelda was in that game.... Ocarina of Time also featured the best dungeons... I just love the atmosphere inside the forest dungeon.. the music in that temple is just awesome. And the complexness of the water temple is also astonishing. Yes, I used several hours to find my way through that maze. I also liked the end sequence in OOC better than in Majora's Mask.. in OOC you made your way into Ganondorf's huge castle and then when the castle started to collapse then you still had one more boss to go. Majora's mask ended so quickly and the last bit with the tree and all those kids you should challenge was too strange to fit into a Zelda game.

Side quests and minigames belong to Zelda games as well, and here I actually think MM is a tiny bit better than OOC. I just love the side quest about Kafei and that boy. You have to walk around and require information about the whereabouts of Kafei, and in the end you get to meet him. I also like the way you can spy at the Curiosity shop owner and the way everything changes depending on the time of the day. But of course you get a little bit dizzy when you have to turn time back again every three days. And one more annoying thing is that if you manage to beat a dungeon, then you will actually have to beat it again if you set the time back.

Ok, then it's windwaker. And it's not THAT good. I don't like the graphic and the gameplay is good only when you're inside dungeons. The side quests (and also parts of the main quest) is too much centered around sailing on the sea, which is quite boring despite Nintendo's efforts to make it fun by putting rupees on barrels at sea. Few dungeons and so on makes this a game that fails to interest me for more than a couple of months. The results? I still haven't finished the game....

The second best Zelda game is "A link to the past". This game is from the SNES-era but has survived the new generation of games and can now be found and playable on your GBA. Though the graphic is simple, the story line, items and dungeons make up for this. Each dungeon (and there are a lot of them) is very varied, and it never gets boring even though the difficulty increases during the game. The way you can "switch" between light and dark world is also a stroke of genious that makes the game one of the most worthwhile 2d games out there.

There has been a lot of great surprised through the history of the Zelda series, and we hope for more to come. "Four Swords" is already out, and if I had or cared to get some GBAs to use as controllers I guess that would be a pleasing game experience as well. And of course I'm anticipating the new "mature" Zelda to be something special. Something special that will (hopefully) make Nintendo stand a chance in the ongoing war between the consoles.

Finally the Gamecube is getting a Zelda game that, at least graphically, is a proper evolution from the N64 games.

The cartoony graphics of Wind-waker ultimately put me off what could have been a decent Zelda title if I hadn't felt it was slightly insulting my intelligence.

The video I watched really makes the game seem much more combat and action oriented, rather than playing songs on your little flute.

I'm sure all the puzzle solving will still be as frustrating as ever, but with a hot combat system this game could really shine.

I see we have Epona the horse back in this title, and rather than just shooting your bow from horseback you get to swing your master sword about and hack those baddies good.

It also recaptures some of the Darker feeling that the N64 titles had, something sorely missing from Wind-waker.
This will be something I'll be watching out for!

By the way, I just finished Master Quest. And I have to say... It sucked. I finished it in a few days with my eyes closed. I hardly even had to load up any faeries or similar stuff.

The new game better give a decent challenge. Perhaps a costumizable degree of difficulty.
