The Unexplained and You

We hear about unsolved mysteries and creepy happenings all the time, but sometimes these things tend to spring upon us, as well. Maybe there are explanations, or maybe there aren't. You can't always be sure, but it sure can be shocking when you least expect it. If anyone has any mysterious or unexplainable experiences that appeared to be real, please share! Oh, and please be truthful. Here's something that happened over a year ago:

I was sitting at the computer at around four in the morning feeling sleepy and exhausted. I had been doing work and was ready to turn the computer off. At the time, my comp had this weird problem that caused it to lock up before the "it's now safe to turn off the computer" screen would show up. That meant I'd always have to turn it off manually. I found out time and time again that hours could pass by and the screen with the Windows logo would never unfreeze itself. This time, I didn't reach for the manual power-down immediately. Instead, I just turned around and looked at the clock, rubbing my eyes and dreading walking through the dark hallways of my house. I'm awfully scared of walking in the dark. Trouble is, the hallway light had wacked out and we couldn't fix it until later. My back facing the computer monitor, I rested my head in my arms and let the scary images of darkness play through my mind for about 4 long minutes. I figured I was wasting time with my imagination and finally straightened up to get moving. Turning my head to monitor, the dang thing suddenly went blank. All at once, the machine's humming ceased and the tiny lights went off. I was super freaked that it happened that I had the shivers walking out of the room. No explanation. It was just creepy.

---

Here's another one, but I wasn't born yet to see this all with my own eyes. My great-great-grandfather (I'll call him Lee) had passed away and all the family relatives were getting together because of it. As is the Chinese tradition, the family arranged for a Daoist funeral to be held for Lee. A priest came to the house to do the ceremony and had Lee's cremation arranged. When all was finished, the entire family went into the parlor and conversed amongst each other. Meanwhile, Lee's old walking cane was resting firmly against the wall in the far corner of the room. The night was still and there was no breeze at all, and all the windows happened to be closed shut. It was almost midnight and the family was still huddled inside the livingroom, but they had grown very quiet. All of a sudden, Lee's cane fell to the floor with a loud SLAM! Everybody in the room jumped in fright and wondered how the cane fell from it's position if there wasn't any wind at all. No explanation. Time went by. My great aunt happened to be staying at the house where Lee used to live. A lot of old things were left behind when he died, but there wasn't any reason for her to sort through the dusty boxes. One night, my great aunt had a dream about Lee, but she couldn't make anything of it. She had another dream nights later, but this time it was about Lee telling her about something important; she didn't know what for sure, though. Yet another dream followed nights later, and she dreamt of a small red satin box that she never saw before. Taking these strange occurrences with quite some suspicion and curiosity, my great aunt decided to examine all of the items in the house that my ancestor Lee left behind. While checking the various items, she uncovered the very same satin box she had seen in her dream. Upon opening it, she found Lee's old pigtail queue that he'd worn during the Manchu rule of the Qing Dynasty. She was amazed at all that had happened. This is the alleged truth according to my surviving grandparents, who were young at the time. Where it stands, nothing can be confirmed or denied.

Chilly, yes?

Speaking of crazy granparents, my granma is firmly convinced that their house was haunted by vampires when she was a kid. Whats worse, her entire familly was, so they went to sleep at the neighbours that day. They conducted some ritual in order to chase off the vampire, but he wouldnt go. In few days, her granma made some type of bread, and together with the donkey set on a trip early at dawn to lure the vampire with the bread to follow her to the neighbouring village (!). There, she threw the bread at the doorsteps of one house, and convinced that the vampire had been following her all along, said to him "Go away, vampire! There will be a wedding in this house and they need you to be their godfather. God curse you!" And, so they saved themselves from the vampire.
U can imagine my face when my granma was telling me this.

Several days after I started this thread, I was walking through my university campus in the early afternoon. Classes were over and my mind was wandering on many topics. Suddenly my friend Kevin popped into my mind and I wondered what he was up to. If you read my early entries in Downhill Times, you'll remember that Kevin disappeared from school shortly before he graduated. Being in the grade below him, I had little idea of what happened and the school didn't disclose any information. No goodbyes or handshakes, just a lot of confusion. That was two years ago, and now I'm out of high school and in college. I couldn't help but be stunned about the mystery of my friend's abrupt departure after all this time.

With so many questions, I just shrugged and kept walking.

The very next morning, my mom showed me the paper that said Kevin died. What a shocking coincidence, I thought, that I'd thought of him the day before his death made the papers. That's the first time anything like that has happened to me. It definitely left a mark on me.

True Story

The quote in my signature is a line from a song I wrote on 7/31/07. The very next day, the 35-W Mississippi River Bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota collapsed, reportedly causing around a dozen deaths and injury for many people. Seeing a tragic disaster like this occur the day after I wrote a song about bridges still give me chills. And if that wasn't enough, the following weeks brought news of bridges collapsing in China, North Korea, and the Middle East for various reasons. Talk about an eye-opener.

Something that happened to my mother

She was about 12 years old and it was in the middle of the night. When suddenly she woke up and saw a man dressed completly in white sitting in the the door. He had a peacefull look on his face and didn't say a word. My mom freaked out and tried to close her eyes and scream. Then my grandmother woke up and saw my mother crying but that man wasn't there anymore... So my mom thinks it was an angel or something.

Ok, I am like a magnet for the unexplained.  Add in weird and unusual too I guess.  First off I have what some might term the power of Empathy.  Not feeling bad for somebody, or caring for people version either.  I can walk near somebody and know (often, but not always) if they have had a bad or good day.  Even if I've never met them before.  There are times when I can 'absorb' pain from a person.  They then do not feel it, I do.  I try not to do that often. I can not attend funerals (do the overload of emotions) and I hate hospitals.

Now the reason I tell you this is because it may be what causes odd things to happen around me. In my life I have seen three spirits.  Those moments that you think to your self.  "I've done this before." are so common to me that it is multiple times each day.  Dreams of the next day events are not uncommon.

Just going to share one, but there are many more that are true that I could share.  One night I went to sleep, and had a dream.  My dream was that I went to school, and I remembered every minute of that day of school.  In the dream it was wednesday (I remember because it was pizza day, and pizza was always on wednesday).
Returning home (in the dream) I went back to bed, and again woke up.
I went through the exact same day.  Down to the smallest detail, at the exact time it happened in my dream.  Even had pizza agian.  I knew what people was going to say, everything.  It was...odd.

This thread is very interesting...it's a shame people are afraid to say what they've experienced or maybe there's just a few of us who heard or experienced these kind of things...but I doubt it!

Come on..don't be shy..tell us EVERYTHING

With pleasure! This thread are interesting indeed. Mysteries have facinated humans in ages. Never a stop from unexlained, freaky stuff And I am no exception

Ok. Theres a few things about me that, not actually freaks me out, but something makes me very curious and a desire to know more about.

Its this darkness alot of us feel uneasy to be in, the night. The feeling of being consumed by it with black in every direction. I admit, the drakness frightened me alot before. But now (yes it may sound sheezy) I feel attuned to it. I can find my way, feel my way either physicaly or mentaly think were obstacles may be hidden. It shouldnt be to difficult in my own home of course, since I know where every object are.
But often, when its dark and i feel for a walk in the nearby forests scattered around the grassy plains and corn fields, just out of curiosity to explore. I dont have too much problems to find my way through my forest in the night..now Im excluding moonlight, since that makes it easier to see. I have rarely tripped in harms way because of a bush, tree trunk, trees or stubs. I dont think this is too special of an ability, since some people can become attuned to the dark if being alot in it.

But to the thing that irritates me a bit, since I love dark colors and the darkness itself (except bright neon/fluorescent colors etc, such glowy lights are so beautiful in the contrast of dark I feel uneasy, dirty in bright sunlight, i feel exposed, naked, uncomfortable. This plagues me most of the year, but for an weird occurence, I love being in the sun when its summer. I have an theory that it might be because I feel ALOT more comfortable in summersun cause it feels more natural to mee than sunlight in autumn, winter, spring seasons and cause the sun in the three latter seasons dont actually warms as much as the summersun

Two other things that i have experienced the last year is that sometimes I get very thirst and hungry for meat, whatever of meat, salty pork, spare ribs, salami, sausages whatever. This is weird cause I usually have a normal consumation of meat in the week, at least 4/7 days i have either meat on my bread, dinner, lunch etc. This should have sated the lust for meat, it did before. But not now anymore Im not saying that Im a lycanthrope that this lust for meat often comes when the moon is present full or not. I hope not that it may be the case, doubt it since 1: I dont get so lusty for fresh meat and 2: Its not fullmoon affected only.

The second is that I might have an well visionairy ability, to see things, to feel thing before they happen. I dont know what it is caused of, that I often get that feeling "I knew that would happen!"
A symphtome of this is that I get an light headache before I feel that the custom event will happen.
An example is that i feelt or guessed that someone would call me precisely that or that time. Its not that I know who would call, it could be everything from an old friend, hidden number, my mom. Which I usually wouldnt excpect or be aware of.

I do not know if this qualifies or not...but how many people can often see at night better then at day.  Everything becomes crisper and clearer.  I don't need a porch light to get into my house at night.  Now I 'see' more during the day (obviously) but though my field of sight is narrower it is 'better' during the night.

When a 12 year old says they see someone in the middle of the night it's hardly unexplained...

Whoa.
That's like, (although slightly less trivial than), the other day when I was walking through a grass patch (you know the kind with clovers) and I just randomly thought out loud "Four-leafed clover", and then as I did I looked down at my feet and there was one there. I'd never seen one before... and it was not one of many, there were no other ones around...
Not creepy or anything, just cool. No one else seemed to think so, though

There are other tales of 'the man in white', so chances are she saw exactly what she thinks she saw.  They say every myth has a basis in fact, even if it is sometime distorted.  Me, I say if people say the same thing time after time, year after year, generation after generation..there probably is something too it.  Yes, that means that I believe there is a possibilty that big foot, the loch ness monster, ect do exsist.  Then again I am a conspiricy nut who is very strange..so take that as you will.

What do you mean "chances are".

If I say I see Elisha Cuthbert in the middle of the night, and many other people have claimed this also, doesn't mean that she actually was there and then disappeared again

And she was 12 at the time.

"Chances are" = it was probably not a dream, and was real.

I never discount anything.  Simply because who am I to say who saw what, when, and where?  I've seen ghosts (of course there are other logical explinations as to what happened).

I understand the expression. I just don't know how you can measure the probability of something like that.

In fact, it is (as far as I know), 100% likely that it didn't happen. If he did disappear the whole continent would have blown up
