Ogre Magi

Okay, this may be a noobie question, but I just want to know..
Is there anybody who uses ogre magiīs bloodlust? I mean, how often do you use this ability when you have a big stack of OMs? I find it so useless, because even one ogre mage can cast it at advanced level.
It might be cool to boost your behemoths even more deadly with their defense reduction and all, but is it worth it? Maybe they are slow (ogres), but they have lots of hp to withstand damage, so isnīt it better to use them in actual fight (and for defending shooters)?

Something I've tried...

When I still have at least one empty troop slot, I'd split one Ogre-Magi out of the whole and use this "individual" to do the casting. To be honest, I've only done this with Master Genies, so I haven't tried with Ogre-Magi yet.

I agree that Ogre Magi can be powerful combatants. Their decent attack and durability have saved me from defeat at least twice in the SoD campaigns so far.

I use them.

Ussually I'm trying to get hero with tactics and expert slow. Then I place them to guard shooters and cast blood lust on others untill opponet come close enough. With exp haste it is not so good, because your other units are faster and so you must wait (which means you do not benefit from haste enough) or get you get benefit of blood lust on the second round.

off topic

I'm writing a WoG script to enable them to cast Frenzy instead of Bloodlust. I really liked the way Equilibris developers gave Ogre Magi several Chaos spells in order to balance them.

I tried to do that also some time ago, but didnīt succeed, such a bad scripter that I am. But could you please send me the script if you get it ready? I think I have my address in my profile. Thanks in advance.

I use Ogre Magi's bloodlust spell occasionally but not to often. I pretty much only use it if I already have Ogres in position and Im not going to move them this turn....like if they are defending shooters. Actually, quite often I leave my ogres at the starting line even when they are not defending shooters cuz they are too slow and I have other units in my army like thundrbirds and ancients that do the majority of the destruction work so in those cases too, its useful to cast that bloodlust on the birds or the ancients.

Just a passer-by

By wk2 or 3, OM upgrade with usually come after upgrade for birds, behe (if you got the resources) and wolves. So, you could probably split OM into 3 groups:

AB, birds, Orc Chief, wolves+ OM, OM & OM (not in order of deployment of course). You would probably not have many cyclops and goblin may not be too useful coz AI likes to target at them in previous fights. Anyway, to cut it short, you could cast bloodlust to most of your hitters in round one. Advance your main OM group to take retar and if you have haste (not expert), no need to hestitate to use on them.
