Confused...secondary skills....
I start with Petula the Lord. She has the following skills:
Basic Nobility....
and Estates. "On your income sequence, roll a die. On a 0-5, draw 1 extra card".
Now, she gains a couple levels, and gains a couple of points of Nobility. She has Expert Nobility, does she have Expert Estates too? Or, because this was on the Lord card and not the Secondary Skill card, does it not move? If she does have Expert Estates, does that mean I can have a free 61st card for Estates on her so I can tell what happens when she moves up in Nobility?
Thanks.

No, it remains at basic and is only based off the prequisite primary skill if you also have the apppriiate secondary skill card to go with it.

Basically, yes
Quote: If she does have Expert Estates, does that mean I can have a free 61st card for Estates on her so I can tell what happens when she moves up in Nobility?
No, the only way to play the estates secondary skill on her is to level her up and play that as her skill for that level. Once played the level of her estates would retroactively be based on whatever her prerequisite primary skill is.

Ick,I mean, thanks. It makes those secondary skills listed not very valuable.
Followup question- since I haven't played yet, does this mean in combat you tend to focus on the opponent's hero? They seem remarkably easy to kill.

Yes, which is why it is often smart to play with the advanced rules letting dead heroes lie and/or potions of immortality.

Heroes in general (without armor artifact and or combat skill) are sitting ducks. As soon as an army contains 3 or 4 archer or flyer types, that's about all it takes to whack a standard 10 defense Hero. Secondary skills are very useful, but like all things a Hero adds to his "friendly units", when he's gone...they're gone.

Double ick. I keep thinking, if ever a game needed battleboards (a la Titan), this is it. Lord knows, that's how they deal with it in the computer game, so why not? The only real problem I can see is that they don't have ranges listed on the units: you'd either have to make a range chart, or declare the range to be some fixed about per level (like level of monster +2).
Ah well, I should play the game a few times first before dissing it.
