heroes will never die...
Feeling optimistic today, i forsee a rebirth of TOH activity. Why's that ?
either H5 will be THE smashing release what we're all waiting for and ppl will gather around the new entry trying to puzzle it and put it back again to see what it comes out, or will be such a dissapointing title that will make us appreciate more H3/H4, revamping them. It's the survive instinct- when everything seems lost (if h5 is bad, all hopes for a presumptive h6 will be gone) players will find resources to go back to what they once were addicted of, almost furiously, trying to let all the energy generated by expectations go, eliminate frustration and finding a refugee in their long ago favourite game. So activity will increase either way, but me, personally, i believe 3 variants are always better than forced 2.
btw, tactics/strategy over the graphics,100% !
unfortunatelly, a good strategical game can be made out of few black&white chips and a piece of paper, who can be sold for few nickles , even hand-made, but a huge consuming-resources graphics will sell thousands of 2-3k USD/EUR PC machines. What will prevail ?! . Time will give an answer, I closed my eyes to avoid seeing the logical answer. I refuse, and keep my hope alive..
Have a nice day
P.S. ....and it started optimistically ....

oh, h5 will bring in a lot more activity, even if it does suck. Why? Because it is designed for multiplayer -- and will come with it shipped on release.
What some forget about homm4 was that it had NO multiplayer on its launch, and the data transfer times were a freakshow extreme joke. It killed itself before it was born.
So there will be a lot of new people signing up and playing online -- its just more a long-term question as well as if veterans will take to it.

This was 95% of the reason I didnt play H4 online. They said the patches fixed it but as data leaked and leaked the transfers got inevitably slower and alower again, so by day 8 i was waitng 5 minutes to receive data for a turn.

I too hope that h5 will be a great game. But sadly, I've learned from experience that games are not designed for us. We are the exception, not the rule, and games are catered to the paying majority of customers, a.k.a. noobs.
Basically our best hope is that some german will make a modded game that plays right
