Retaliation, Mummy's Curse and First Strike

My friends and I are playing with simultaneous retaliation rules. That is, when attacking a stack, they may retaliate immediately before casualties are taken. We find it's more true to the Heroes IV computer game, and is ultimately more challenging.

1) Champions have the First Strike ability which allows them to attack with a combat value of 12 in the First Round. Does this apply to retaliations made in the round as well? If my opponent's Vampires attack in Phase 2, will the Champions have a 12 or regular 6?

2) Swarming states that creatures give up their current activation to boost their next attack. Does this include retaliatory attacks as well? Can my opponent Swarm his Skeletons in Phase 6, then I attack him with my Peasants in Phase 8 and blow his Swarmed attack on them (instead of letting him attack something more valuable)?

3) Mummies say that they will Curse a surviving stack they attack in combat. Can they miss their attack and still Curse the enemy? Is hitting a requirement for the ability to trigger?

Thanks in advance guys,

J-Tech

Champions have a 12 in round 1, even if they are retaliating. Swarming creatures are swarming until they make their next ATTACK. So, in your example, the Skeletons will be swarming in their retaliation AND in their next attack. Mummies curse everyone they attack, hit or miss. This is the same with the poison specials, the aging and wekness specials, and the terror specials (I hope I am not leaving any out...). BTW, a Ghost's aging effects and the Waspwart's weakness effects are cumulative, but cannot reduce anyone's scores below 0.

In the computer game a stack that is completely eliminated does not retaliate. It looks simultaneous because when you attack and leave some alive in the stack the retaliation is resolved immediately, but in effect I think it works the same as the card game.
