Seems to be some good ideas you have for the town, I do have a couple of questions about your ideas.

Do the unupgraded Centaurs you suggest for the town have a ranged attack like they do in H4?

The Troll Magi, do they have more than one spell, unlike the Ogre Magi from H3 which have only the Bloodlust spell?

They start off with a pair of random offensive and defensive, but certain things about their hero can boost their power. (Artifacts, experience, ect.)

That answers the question about the Troll Magi(or at least I'm guessing that's the question you were answering), but I still am confused about the Centaurs you had suggested.

I think the Orcs/trolls fit best for the chaos faction, and the stone snake (pokemon onix anyone?) is a nice idea. When i say chaos i meant for the H3 Fortress faction (lizard folk and hydras). I don't get it, why when talking about barbarian eveyone has to be a big, dumb hulk-like monsters? why not humans with different ocupations like slingers, Berserkers (with two weapons... HELL YEAH!), some crazed beastmaster riding huge tiger/wolf... parhaps i have a town  of my own:

L1:
basic : Wolves (gray fur)first strike.
upgrade: Spirit wolves (white fur) first strike, reproduse by 1% weekly.
description: man's best friend!

L2:
basic : Hunter (women fighters with spears) has 50% to stike without retaliation.
upgrade: Volkarie (has chainmail and shiny spear) gains ranged attack - can throw her spear, medium range,
can cast "heal".
description: women fighters with mystical powers.

L3:
basic: Blade spinner (has two swords and wears partial armor) 50% to get "Frenzy" after being hit, has unlimited retaliation.
upgrade: Mountain warior (get two handed sword and wears full armor with white fur) gains also "360% attck" abillity, but can also hit his own troops in proximity.
description: Male wariors with the idea of berserkers from H4.

L4:
basic : Shaman (strange guy with bear hide on his back wearing leather armor and bearing a stick with a skull on it's top) casts various spells including bloodlust, speed, bless or stone skin (random effect)
upgrade: Rune warior (get runic plate armor *still wearing bear hide* and two handed-axe, turns into warior unit instead of support unit)
description: a priest in contact with the wild spirits, has a cool upgrade.

L5:
basic: War Elephant (Trained elephant, wears heavy armor)
has +1 to morale of all troops in army, has "stomp" abillity (kills a portion of units in target stack), get "frenzy" if health get lower then 50%.
upgrade: Elephant rider (has a trainer on his back) can shoot at enemies and attack castle walls.
description: Elephants trained as pets to become a scary sight on any batlefield, slow and dangerous.

L6:
basic: Tiger rider (big guy bearing two swords, wearing mithril armor riding a tiger also wearing mithril armor) a cavalery type unit whith a charge attack, can attack three target at once.
upgrade: Beastmaster (same guy, wearing fur, white tiger) cast random "mass effect" spell at the beginning of a fight, and can cast "Rage" which give boost to all animals on the field (wlves, elephants and the stone snake)
description: a warior and a support unit in the same time, i thought about a commander like unit, which inspires the army.

L7:
lol sorry for copying, just liked the idea
basic: Stone Serpent (huge snake made of rock) has constant stone skin on it, "fear" effect, and has 30% "petrify" (like medusa)
upgrade: Diamond Serpent (huge snake made of transparent diamonds) get spell mirror and offensive spell ressistance (golem type), destroys walls with single strike.
description: Huge Serpent, fearsome on the battlefield, the unit itself is mystical and summond by the gods to serve the barbarians.

The town consist mainly of humans, that pray for gods to get mircles, isntead of casting them themselves, they also have mystic nature.

Giving a unit a different type of attack (ranged/melee) by upgrading is not a good idea. A ranged unit should stay ranged after upgrading, and a melee unit should not become a ranged unit after upgrading. That's my idea about your ideas
I think in the expansion there should come 2 races with almost no magic, since Fortress and Stronghold (from HoMM3) are clearly missing in the new H5. So a barbarian town and a swamp town are indeed the best ideas.

I'm not talking about a specific god like Jesus christ or anything... I'm talking about "gods" like everyone has it's  own god. in the ancient times, people believed that every aspect of nature were a god, like when it was a storm, the god of storm is raging... or in the fire some kind of god revieled itself... some "barbaric" religions that count small groups. while the "modern" religions warship only one god, like christianity, Judaism, Muslems. The barbarians *I* was talking about prayed for "gods", someting like talking to the spirits which grant them blessings, no gods...

Let me introduce...

First of all, hello to all. I am new here and supposedly nobody knows me. I was always a big fan of Heroes of Might and Magic series, tho it is long since I last played it.

Anyway, I am really looking forward to playing the new part, so I often visit sites which contain some info and/or have forums where it is possible to discuss about the upcoming game.

But enough of this blabbering. Let's get straight to business.

Hi Daystar, pleased to meet you. Your ideas are quite fascinating, but they could be changed/extended a bit.

The first thing I noticed is about the hero being an orc and the orc-like creatures. As far as i know, the Orcs will not be the same ugly strong creatures as they were before.

They are some sort of creation the mages have made in their cities, not the creatures that naturally appeared and evolved.

I'd seriously doubt then that orc town should exist. They could be summoned and/or neutral creatures.

But... (as there always is an exception) it is possible that orcs would appear in the expansion as the castaways and, because of the rage and the hatred towards the ones (the mages) who cast them out, creators of a fearsome town of orcs and wild beasts (as I understand you wanted to say ) Though, I'd seriously doubt about orc being the hero and/or the town having no magic. Well, according to you, orcs should be the might heroes, but even tho, it doesn't look so good for me, I'd surely say that is the only reasonable answer to who is the might hero (unless we want a hero with one eye or a big fat ape ).

About the magic, as I said, they SHOULD have their magic school. It shouldn't be based primarily on might, as the orcs are so-to-say created by using magical powers. If, I say IF, the orcs would become castaways, I say they should have a set of 'stolen' or 'not-published' spells' formulae.

That's the only flickering thought in my mind about your proposals. You should add a few things, but nevertheless, your work is great (especially when talking about their philosophy)

And as for Darkdimka:

Your ideas are nice too, and I liked the concept of the town consisting mainly of humans, although the town would lose its unique ideology.

In my point of view, in the town you propose, there are too many different human-based creatures. I liked the idea tho. There was never a town which had a line-up formed of humans apart from Castle/Knight/Life/Haven town .

It'd be best if i did not comment anymore on your post, 'coz i talk much, even when i need not (as you will notice further on )

BUT there is one thing which provokes a question: what for are the gods needed?

Do not forget that in the religion is already decided. It is branched into several different. The religion is all about the worshipping of the dragons, the greater evil and good. No human-worship-in-the-real-world-like or ancient gods. Celestial dragons only.

OR... or maybe you wanted to say that they would pray, worship them all in order to get something bestowed upon themselves? That'd provoke another discussion.

Anyway, speaking about myself, I'd rather not hope of anything like it in the game. It is possible that such towns will be included, but I would like something new or renovated (like academy) or have certain things (creatures, core philosophy etc.) mixed. Having towns which are clouded by a fog of mystery would bring much more fun, not to mention more interest in the game.

Although I like your ideas (barbarian is one of my favotite towns) I think your suggestions are a little overpowered. This could unbalance the gameplay.
About the praying idea, this could be like a new structure for the town. Perhaps the city could have a special altar where the units can get a bonus to morality (or something else) or a help from the "gods" in the next battle. If the later, during the combat, if the barbarians are losing the "gods" could give a helping hand and cast a mass morality (or something
else).

Just a crazy idea,
regards
