Imagination- OOC

IMAGINE

In the city of Vale, there is a tall, tall building paned with reflective glass right up to the sky. Rather monotonous, really, until high up on the roof four pillars protrude sturdily from the ground to hold up a great glass dome to look down on the surrounding skyscrapers of the city.

This dome forms the basis of a chamber, in which no one can ever set foot, except one.

That is because it is from this room that the King rules supreme over the Kingdom. A powerful machine called the Crown had been constructed by the greatest scientists of the world, in which the King could sit, and by allowing the machine to plug directly into his nervous system, he could change the very fabric of the Kingdom just by imagining it. It was unbelievable. Starvation in the west, and with a blink of an eye there was food as far as the eye could see. A terrorist attack blows up a major business centre, and it builds itself right back up.

The King was a good king, and never used his newfound power for anything other than making his job easier.
Some people think that the Crown would be too hard to make, and it was actually appeared into existence because it was made in the future and whoever made it used it to think it back to the past for the kings use.. but the people who try to think that way usually go insane trying to comprehend time.

The King used it to construct a security system making sure that no one could possibly get in there unless he wanted them to. Because as you could imagine, the consequences of someone else getting into that machine would be nothing less than catastrophic.

But the Kingdom soon found out that it wasn't just the King who could let people in and out of the throne room, he had actually wished a throne Guard into existence to loyally guard the doorway to stop anyone from going in. One thing the King maybe didn't think of, however, was that this guards were not given a mind for such a mindless job, they were without thought, without a sense of sanity, in fact, their minds were not designed at all by him, and turned out more like a gap in the fabric of space.

And in this Kingdom, ideas float about like air molecules. Moving quickly and grasped by people at times of their choosing. But when there is an exposed gap which contains no air, the air will quickly fill it up, eventually passing out and filling up with more air, through diffusion. This is what happend to the minds of these guards. The most random, crazy ideas, ever thought by anyone would pass into his mind.

This was a critical fault fault in the system. At first they resisted it, but he couldnt help but pick up the most thought about thought in the whole Kingdom; the meaning of life.
With his abnormal potential for intellect, he began to contemplate his existence, and soon found the truth. He had been willed into existence recently by his master, and served no real purpose on this world. He, as all living things, strived for a sense of purpose, one more important than anything, ever.

This was the revelation experienced by the Guard. And he was not happy. He began to stop resisting the flow of ideas, and soon his bottomless mind was filled with insanity; he was a madman to make all madmen amazed.
He now regarded his master with utter contempt, and plotted his revenge.

And it wasnt long before he exacted it by taking control of the Crown. The King was never seen again.
Any idea that popped into his head appeared into existence. Giant spiders walked the streets. Aliens abducted people in great flying ships and giants live among us. The dinosaurs have returned, and they want their planet back. All these apparitions, called Figments, have invaded the once peaceful, once normal Kingdom of the Realfolk.

The world changes by the second. Pylons reach out and morph the world into the twisted desires of one man. Catastrophy? Anarchy? Or newfound freedom?
What role will you play, in a Kingdom where ANYTHING can happen?

Create a character and jump right in. No rules, just use your imagination.

Okay then, my character is:

Henry the Hectic Heretic.

He is a Figment, but pretends (quite well) otherwise. He speaks very fast and defies all grammar. Part of the time he speaks, he expresses his ideas of a happy society, one where Figments and Realfolk live in peace. Most of his words, however, involve his little business.

In the Kingdom, there's a very popular sport which involves huge dragonflies and their riders. These riders race on their winged mounts through various race-tracks full of devious traps and whatnot. There are no rules to this game. The winner is the one who gets to the finish line first, or - in some cases - manages to get there at all.

Henry's way of earning money is mostly about buying and selling equipment for this sport. Dragonfly armor, weapons of all shapes and sizes, you name it and Henry either has it or knows where to get it. For a reasonable price, too.

Most Realfolk don't like him much, what with him being friends with Figments. He does, however, have quite a good reputation among dragonfly riders, which guarantees him relative safety. After all, where would they get their fancyass guns if not from Hectic Henry?

He also has a little secret ambition. He's stashing his best finds and gathering money to one day become the greatest dragonfly rider of all time.

Name: Chaos
Appearance: http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/561/chaos0vl.jpg
Story: Since the beginning of time, the spirits of Life, Order, Death, and Chaos have co-existed within the four elements, yet none could ever prevail over the other. Life and Death balanced while Order and Chaos did the same. The earth has been suspended in this delicate balance since the beginning of time, yet the events that transpired in the Kingdom of Vale have fueled Chaos to the point where it has completely consumed Order. In doing so, Chaos has become flesh. He now travels to Vale in order to ensure that Order never gains a foothold there ever again.

Chaos is a blue demon of unfathomable power. He wields two crescent blades named Havoc and Mayhem. Upon his chest lay a giant eye known only as the Eye of Pandemonium, which will drive anyone who gazes upon it insane. This does not work on figments, however, as their minds exist only within the realms of imagination. The Eye is closed most of the time, and Chaos will only open it if he senses Order creeping back into the kingdom. Since this is not normally a problem, Chaos is not usually a threat.

Name: Captain James.

When you think of the word hypocritical you think of James. Sure, everyone knows about him. He is the figment who hates figments.

He was created by the King to keep things under control, the ultimate law enforcer perhaps. The King is gone now, but that won't stop him from fulfilling his purpose. But how can a Kingdom be kept under control when things appear, change and disappear in a puff of thought and the blink of an eye? With the media (imagined media?) at his side, he sets out to regulate the apparitions. Some people say it's like trying to tame the ocean or the winds, but those people are then accused of being an illegal figment and vaporized. So people generally leave him be.

He even has his own private defence force, called the Dogs, which is usually at work fighting off sand monsters or swarms of lady bugs.

hmmm...

this looks interesting... mind if i lend a hand? (or a figment, whatever)

Name: Ithilion Nightwing

Species: Figment

for some reason, even though he does not hide he is a figment, he generally tries to lay low and mind his own business (for reasons mentioned below, this is not possible most of the time) remaining neutral in the whole mess the kingdom has become

...wearing cardigans, cloaks or jackets, depending on where he is ...green eyes, pointy ears (not long though) sharp teeth and an even sharper tongue (i told you there were reasons... he is as snarky as it gets) ...usually in need of a shave ...sometimes seen walking down the street with his staff

what he does for a living? whatever brings him money... simple as that, no morals, no pissing off the wrong people (at least no more than affordable) ...he is someone many want gone but few bother to do something about it... the pest you know... not that he is too big of a pest anyway...

and here is roughly what he looks like...

Make it five...

I'm joining.

Name:  His real name is Jason Stone however that is only known by Captain James.  Everyone else refers to him as The Doctor or Doctor Death.

Race: Unknown

Background:  It is unknown what Jason's origins are.  Many speculate that only a Figment could have as twisted a mind as he.  Others say he was just an average guy who decided that it was about time he got a little power and respect.
What is known is that he now inhabits a former capitol city in the south now renamed Techopia.  It is also known that he is responsible for most robot attacks.  It is unknown whether or not he was created by The Machine.  He is always seen wearing a Hi-Tech suit of armor the color of blood and darkness.  It is believed that he has possession over some form of medical machine originally made for amputee victims and those with cancer.  It had the ability to re-make a cybernetic implement in place of a lost or diseased limb.  God only knows how he plans on using it.
His greatest enemy is Captain James who has thwarted nearly all of his attacks on society.

Introducing my character...

Mind if I join?

I decided to create a human, a representative of the realfolk, instead of a figment, as I much more like having a human at my side

NB : Hanahr (name of the character) is pronounce (HEY-nar)

Character Name:

Hanahr, son of Anharr

Character Description:

Hanahr, meaning "traveller" in the old language, is a tall, brown-haired, brown-bearded man with narrow grey eyes, hid behind thin eyelids. He usually wears his worn dark green coat and carries a magical sword and a magical crossbow with him, both inherited from his father, Anharr the Great, founder of the ancient independent kingdom of Jordgland. There is nothing special about the appearance of Hanahr, except for a strange black tattoo on his left cheek that looks like a rune symbol.

Character Bio:

Hanahr was born many years ago in a rather unknown kingdom of Jordgland. The kingdom was indepedent and was not ruled by the King, nor the mysterious Crown until the Figments appeared and destroyed the kingdom. Every single inhabitant of the kingdom was mercilessly slain or abducted by the creatures they called Intruders except for Hanahr. It was his thirty-fifth birthday when the Intruders appeared in the forest near the barracks where Jordgland's army resided and started the massacres. Hanahr's family was also slain, though it seemed that Anharr, Hanahr's father, survived - he teleported through the dimension gate opened nearby.

Hanahr did not cry - not even a single tear slid over his fair cheeks. He was not angry at all too. A normal human would have sobbed or run out of his mind at that moment, but he was not normal. He was as cold-blooded as a lizard, his mind was as hard as iron. The only thought that crossed his mind was the promise that he will always keep the Intruders from causing as much damage and misery in any other kingdom. He crossed the border of the Kingdom and entered... He soon found out that the Kingdom was overtaken by the Figments, created by the Guard. He set off to hunt down the Intruders... To find out what happened to his father...

And then his adventures began...

I hope that is right, Titanium. I do not actually know if it was possible to create a human character... But according to the thread name "imagination" and the fact that we can imagine what we want, it should be ok. After all, first RP I join

Name: Otis Ranger

Character Description:

This real person is a strange scientist that has sealed himself off from the outside world ever since the figments took over the world. He lives underground where he hydroponicly grows all of his food while he does his studies. Though he does go outside on occasion to take deliveries of meat or to meet with his friends and family.

However recently he has been spending most of his time outside testing his weather machines.

awesome...

The RP is getting more and more active and also much better than I ever hoped for a Role Play, especially of this kind (such a liberal, such a relaxed one), to be Finally, I have an interesting job here, on HC.

As for me, I will update my character's adventure soon - as soon as my computer is returned to me, as it seemed to have been malfunctioning the last few days. I do not think that my character will not meet any of the character over the following few days - I am trying to think of an interesting continuation to my character's adventures. As my character is more or less 'foreign' to the laws of the Kingdom and most of the inventions found here seem to be new, an introduction must be as follows.

However, I think that I will keep on making more or less a 'magic-aligned' story for a while - it would be too much of a fuss if my character, Hanahr, suddenly turned into a normal inhabitant of 'modern ages', as Jordgland, the place where he was born and lived, seems to represent the middle ages. I will include figments step by step - the Intruder Saga, do not forget - and consequently they are going to fit my character into the whole story (the plot).

Just to know, I would like to ask how much time the creation of the story should take. How many posts, I should say, and if such story fits the thread. I plan to continue the story as it is now for a little while - at least 8-12 posts. It's not me who administrates the RP after all... Opinions needed.

Congrats to everybody for constantly trying to make the thread flourish

Well thanks for joining TDL and Redsox, I hope this thread can stay this active.

And Woock, I thought it might tie some of us up a bit, hope you don't mind, I can change the info/background of the weapon if you want

TDL, in the rest of our writings the figments seem to be a big part, but it's up to you when you choose to introduce them. Looking forward to reading about the invasion of your nation.

I also like, well not LIKE but you know how Woock did the short post. Maybe in other heavy threads like Height of the Guild you might need to have a big story/plot ready for each post you make and it has to be long (well you get what I mean) you can just make little quick ones which will move the total plot along easier because, sometimes I feel as though oh well I haven't got a big enough entry so I won't post until I've got one that feels complete.

Or I'm just rambling. Oh well.
