Overpowered Heroes

Apart from the dreaded Solmyr, which Heroes would you say are overpowered and why?

My vote goes to Loynis (Cleric, Prayer Speciality).  If you get him Expert Water Magic he turns into a wrecking ball after a few levels.  Opening a battle with a pumped up version of Expert Prayer gives your units incredible bonuses to Attack, Defense, and Speed (which grow quickly thanks to his Learning skill).  So, now a single spell turns into a substitute for the toughest Might Hero you've ever seen.  If Loynis has also studied things like Intelligence, Sorcery, Air, Earth, and Fire Magic, he can effectively become both a Might Hero and a Magic Hero rolled into one.  Granted, it's not perfect, since his Prayer spell can be nullified by Cursed Ground, Anti-Magic Garrisons, or Expert Dispel, but since I've rarely seen the computer use Dispel and and the other two can (usually) be avoided, Loynis' potent specialty has seen me through many tough battles.

I think my other favorite abuseable speciality goes to Jeddite and Alamar, for being able to Resurrect troops almost endlessly.

Sorry to disappoint you but you are wrong:

The specialities of your Heroes arent really valuable in the end. Better scholar the spell to a real main hero.

Worst case in your "overpowered" heros list ist Solmyr. He may have little advandage at the beginning, but "one chainlightning blast" on the first day, isnt really reasonable to choose him as main. He relies to much on his chainlighting, therefore uve to refill his spell points all the time to have his little advantage, which means a waste of movement points and a huge waste of time ...any might hero can do better in the meantime. The Worst thing with solmyr special ist that it does almost NOTHING more damage to LvL 4-7 Creatures, then any other hero with chainlightning. If u dont believe in my advice to take a might hero instead, at least take a magic hero with sorcery speciality ...THEY will increase the damage of chain lightning ..NOT Solmyr.

Solmyr and the other magic heroes uve listed do have the problem that their secondary skilling is really worse ...most of the times u get offered all the unwanted skills ...in this case alamar and jheditte might skill ok ...but the clerics secondary skilling is really a pain in the ass. Additional to this the clerics primary skilling is one of the worst too ...so that his spell might give his creatures some more power ...unfortunately this cant balance the bad primary skilling..not even near. So what is left is might be the additional speed that his speciality gives...but again Lvl4-7 Creatures dont really get sufficient additional speed by that. Again, like with solmyr, creature will die too fast under his hands when he has no spell points ...so again u would just waste your movement points and time ....again a might hero will do better any time.

Btw Learning is the one of the worst skill you can get. The effect that Learning give with experience, is already wastet in the 3 steps of the Learning skill. So in the end Learning gives only the advantage of about 4 primary skills (example +2 Attack +1 Defense +1 Wisdom). Therefore you wasted a complete Secondary Skill, which u couldve used for one secondary skill that really helps you in the huge fights (Offense, Armory, Resistance, Intelligenz and and and and..).

Only exception maybe Jheditte. While Alamar has already Scholar in his skills, he should give his spell after a few days to a real main. Jheditte in this case, does ok in secondary skilling (should get earth pretty soon) and does ok in secondary skilling. Knowing this, his Resurrection plus the dungeon vortrex in week 2 can speed him up and give him the advantage to crack up huge fights like utopias. Still he needs the secondary skills offense and armory to do good....unless that his troups normally die faster then he can resurrect them.

Your statement that these heroes are overpowered shows that you are new to this forum and not really exprienced to the game. Those topics are discussed 1000times before you and peeps already know which hero specials might be REALLY overpowerd. Heros with:

- logisitc specialty
- offense and armory speciality
- necro speciality

..and some others in specific situation. The heroes that youve listed are none of them. And i must warn you: To insist on your theories will just make you a noobie. So dont do that!

I think what makes a hero overpowered is what he/she can do at the beginning of the game. Gelu and Dracon have already had powerful troops before the other heroes. It gives them more chance to defeat many wandering monster and also get a lot of artifacts or resources. Then they can build their forces faster.

I prefer Geon, cause when you master the eagle eye skill, it is a lot easier to get armageddon from your enemy when he uses it against you. Then you just take your black dragons with you and kill everybody. But be sure get mysticism too, so that you will not run out of spell points!

Sorry about that.  I tried to do a search before I posted this, but I guess I wasn't thorough enough.

I also apologize for not making it clear this was just my opinion (and I know full well I'm bad at this game, see the sig).

Too true, I'd forgotten about the Logistics speciality (good ol' Kyrre, Dessa, and... what's the Overlord's name who's got the logistics specialty), but even that one can easily get overshadowed by Expert Town Portal.

And I'm not a noob.  I've sucked at this game for a decade now!
