the contest results were, I have to say, VERY dissapointing. Looks like I will be back to doing it all myself. Too bad, from what I saw of the Nival contest I expected something better. I'll be putting up a news update on what the plans are for ToH before Homm5 comes out.
I still predict a late May or early June release, so I'm timing ToH's modifications/closure with that schedule.

Hi Ves,
you maybe should post in the Library, there are some YoungGuns that like to work with Graphics. Still 500 USbugs is very impressive, that even i thinking about spending my time on it...if its still open?

This is a serious request for advice. I considered entering this contest but I am still stuck at the stage where I draw something with pencils and acrylics and then scan it. My question is how do the "pros" do it? I mean what kind of tools do they use when they make it look "video-gamey". And what software? (and how much $$ also)
As far as taking the next step I'm totally clueless.

actually if it is scanned, and does not look 'videogamer-ish', the rest is done in photoshop or a similar program. As long as the scan is in relatively high resolution, the rest I can modify. But again, it looks like I will take it upon myself to do the image, like in the past.
Since I'm not going to work on the images until I get wind of Homm5 going gold, there is still lots of time for submitting potential images for use.

Short of time :S If you dont get anything good, I hope you havent forgotten how to use pen and paper ves  As that is the most important tool for a designer

hi to everyone. I'm a bit dissapointed too that we were not able to bring good pics so we can have a nice main page for the upcomming season so I am trying now the 2nd pic which I will post so all of you can see it and say an oppinion.

naah don't thank me, thank to ves cuz he was able to put it up so u all can see it, I believe there still are others among us who have nice pics, would be nice guys to share them and help ves do the right choice so that we will have a very nice webpage for the tournament that will come. Rich.. never forget : "very nice" is only Xarfax's girlfriend  (offtopic answer from me.. as always

I understood wanderer was supposed to upload his own work?
Ves, I strongly suggest you either:
1) contact Nival and ask for the permission to use their submissions, even for a fee
2) contact some of the promising fantasy artists on the web - I am sure most of them would gladly accept 500$
3) use the original concept art for Heroes 5

Vlaad: I will probably use the original concept art for homm5 in a mix like most of my image maps for ToH. Unfortunately with Nival its not so easy to 'adopt' their artwork without annoying contracts and paperwork.
