Sorry bobby.
I wasnt trying to make it as if we have to wait & it will be all ok.
I was just trying to make everyone feel at ease.
I am not trying to get nobody here.
I understand trust me.
Jason too, when i was new,no one would play with me for over a yr.
Played a few games for season 3 but they either cheated or left.
I was signed up for toh but i never got a single game in.
Until Monty came out with Heroes encounters.
Made alot of friends on here.
I was able to build up a honest relationship with many players on here which I wasnt able too.
Joel helped me alot & Mocara.
I been through many bad times on here & I dont want any of you to go through any of it.
ALl I can try to do is make yall feel better.
I wouldnt give no one false hopes if i tought there was none.
Like real life, you have to go through the bad times in the beggining & it will get better.
I seen so much on here & been through so much from cheaters or droppers.
I also had great times too.
like playing over 30 games with Zud on hrglass 3 & only winning 1 of them, but I loved it.
The competition is the best.
I love playing the best like Archdevil666,RYchenroller,Andislayer & Zud etc on thier own turf.
I dont only learn alot but I love it.
They love it too because I always come back for more hehe.
I been screwed, cheated on, dropped on over 100 times, or aprox.
I been there more then most I know but I never got mad & I am always here for Ves toh.
I am here for you guys too.
So when i say patience, it means that it will be alright.
We have to go through the BS I know this but in time it will be alright.
We all know what we expect & we all know what the problems are.
Sorry Bobby.

I played the beta testing of Heroes 5 and I thought it was great to see the changes made in it. You still see heroes 3 in it but with some umf. Open mides is all that is need to enjoy heroes once again, and an open mind I have and truely am happy with the outcome of Heroes 5 I give my Kudos to Ubisoft.

Forgotten Facts...
With the 'beta' and 'demo' you had somewhat limited issues due to the fact that not all the game was 'active' so with the coders changing it constantly you had to completely shut off particular sets of code for the game to even function, I ran across the problem with a 'beta' Map Editor and had "HUGE ISSUES" making a complete map. Also the way I understand that they may try to make it more into a "mod" based editor to allow you to create your own custom campaigns and 'hero worlds'.
Also the gaming companies do NOT make money off of the Multi-player portion unless its a subscription based fee behind it. To think of the millions of dollars sunk into servers to handle the volume properly like HALO and others did. They actually went to ISP's and paid small finders fees to setup on their servers, therefore not costing you and arm, leg and your first born for MP games. This was before the major companies (Bellsouth, Comcast, MSN etc.) put a strangle hold on internet services.
Bottom line still drives this industry and currently when you exhaust your money you put the game out, make a little bit back to pay for the patch.
Look no further then Neverwinter Nights as an example. They came out with a 1.67 patch just 3 weeks ago on a 7 year old game. Support will be there as long as players demand it..
This is what we have to do for H5.. become a "community" and force the software company to our whim and not theirs. And the way we do that is to buy the game play it and get others to do the same. Once they make there profit margin from the game then they will support it open ended like Bioware does.

Aculias,
I appreciate the appology but it was completely unnecessary simply because I did feel like you or anyone else took a shot at me or anything. I was just making a few points about things and with this board representing individuals from all walks of life and such I didn't want anyone misunderstanding or anything. I said it best in a message a bit ago... I feel like someone who lives in a northern area where it snows and is cold and I got a jet-ski for Xmas. About all I can do for a while is sit on it in the garage and make engine noises. Sure I'm glad to have it but it would be nice to actually be able to use it as intended. LOL
Oh and most of the older vets know me pretty well so I won't have any problems. I just can't get a game cause barely anyone is showing up. But no matter I'll keep representing and doing what I can to keep things going despite the early bumps. LOL
BTW, good luck with your finals.
Oh look... 1 hour left and I can head home and play. Hope to see someone in about an hour and a half.

6 hours a game
I would have set aside 6 hours on a weekend to play multi but with many games going unfinished due to bugs I feel like waiting. I want to play this online very much but as my 1st attempt failed miserably I will continue to play hotseat until it is optimised or patched.
I am most anxious to play TOH...it will happen this I know...but for now will spend time learning and waiting...

future of heroes..
Quote:
Quote: To be VERY honest... I thought, that one day if the homm franchise died, I may have invested into the whole franchise myself; or down the line make my own game company and work on something very similar to what we all love. Fortunately I think homm5 is a great game, I'm having a lot of fun -- just hoping that this crappy bug situation on multiplayer is fixed. I mean look -- 40 games played in 2 weeks? That is not what I expected. I would have taken poor maps and balance over an unplayable multi any day.
Can I get a side job as a map maker if you ever own a gaming company?
But I've read more news on the patch.. it specifically addresses issues such as the bad multiplayer.. So you may jus want to finish the campaigns, wait a week for the first patch and then try online play again after that. That's my plan
I think this should truthfully be the future for the next generation of heroes. Although you're correct that heroes 5 does deserve a chance and the reason that I'm personally not playing on-line yet is because I am still slow with the game and need more time to get used to the new style of play and trying to create consistant strategies.
but anyway,
Ves gave people a reason to play heroes ,the game is amazing in every single way and with ves coming up with his website made people give the game a chance, and with a map editing genious, aka jb239, you had fun... and thats what games need to be, I miss the division wars, clan wars, all the other crazy games you could come up with that always seemed to just work out.. Think of all the new strategies we came up with to dominate the game which had no difficulty, including IMPOSSIBLE, to stop us, you could only find real games against people in the zone with unique difficulties.
I will give heroes 5 a huge change because it definately deserves it, but I do hope that ves does take over for the future of heroes and gives jb a job as map-maker... till then many hours of heroes 5 I guess.

Quote: where the heck is everybody? I sat in the lobby last night from 5-9 PM PST and not one person from ToH came in There are 17,000+ registered and I'm the only one there???!!!
Most of replies already expressed general idea and feeling about it all - most wait for the patch. I only can add a line about those ToHers who are not from such big states as US, France or Aussie. I guess, similarly as Bob, I even would not wait for the patch to play some games, but here in Latvia its just impossible to get a legal version of the game yet. Actually it took me some time to discover a place where somebody is selling legal PC games at all, lol...
Just a little wait, and I sincerely believe that ToH will be lots of fun during next couple of years *elephants preparing for a wild run *

Rest Assured Archilles that JB & any person can make a map & send it to TOH.
What we need is JB or someone like BobTamr used to do & observe the map to see if it is suitable for toh play.
SOmetimes players make maps that is so bonked that it shouldnt even be playable.
Yea dont worry about a job in map making.

Yeah, of course anyone can make a map, just like anyone can play the game but some are just better then others.. Jb has proven he's great at making maps that people play over and over and over again.(it's true) Honestly, he's the original map maker for on-line games, other people were only able to make maps becase they took ideas from jb. Who can forget the great maps like criss cross, Me vs you, battle for honor, the last battle, hourglass and thats just a few...I know for myself and many other people that played heroes 3 that once people got a hold of the maps jb made they took all the original maps and moved them to a new folder because they never used them.
Anyway the point I am trying to get accross is that Jb started the whole map making process that gave way to other map ideas. I'm not saying noone else can make maps, I'm just saying noone else can make them as fun.

Everyone deserves a chance to make a map.
It's not right to give no maps a chance except for JB's.
I played only a few of his maps & they were cool.
I played other maps also & they were just as fun.
Thats why I mentioned that Rob should get a map tester just like Bob Tam so we can see what maps are good enough for game play & whats not.
Every player or person who makes a map deserves a fair chance.

What are you talking about? Only my maps are good!
haha just kidding.. but from experience there are a lot of map makers with good ideas, but sometimes they need a lil help touching it up, balancing it, etc.. I remember I used to help people with their maps in the past without really changing their idea. I.E. Hourglass.
Dunno how much time I will have.. but I may be open to help again

luv it!! unable to play it :(
i luv this game, it truly is to me a worthy successor in the homm series, only prob. is it came out while i was short o cash to upgrade my old barne, still, if all goes well my comp should be upgraded and rdy to go by the time the next patch comes along, and don't think it will fix it all, for those who were there in the beginning of homm3 it took first 3 patches till it got truly smoothed into a workable game online, i purchased the limlted edition and with it comes the original homm3+4, i totally forgot the astronomical amount of gremlins you could purchase day1 in the orig. version, just insane!! but as for this game, it is consuming my time in the campaigns and my wife alrdy hates it. it gets no better thumbs up then that for me

Dont worry MKL I have the same problem.
As it seems, we got the time to save up for one since theres still alot of bugs to fix & others needing upgrades as well.
We dont have much to worry about when it comes to playing now.
By the time the new patch comes, thats when the tournament will blast.
Right now this is just temp.
