Sea Combat

Sea combat has always been a problem. In the first two games, you fought on one ship. In Heroes 3, you fought ship-to-ship, which was a little bit inproved. But there is something TERRIBLY wrong.... ONE OF THE OBSTACLES ON THE SHIPS ARE CANNONBALLS!!!!! That just doesn't make sence, as there is no gunpowder in Heroes, and therefore NO CANNONS or GUNS!

Are you sure about that??

And what about those Pirate creatures we've seen in HeroesIV?? They seem modern enough to carry firearms and use cannons. At least they have an appearance very close the Long John Silver

technology vs magic

...hm just like Arcanum

...is it ok if the cannons are not powered by gunpowder but by magic? ...is it a mechanical dragon or a dragon golem? is it raining or is it just me?


BTW: I don't like modern weapons, anything more advanced than a crossbow is too much fer me...

also...

another thing that has been gnawing at me is how you will fight sea monsters... they cant be ON a ship since they swim, not walk... so how will they be fought?

but he is right, cannonballs have been an obstacle in h2, and h3...

..so are we getting to sea combat where your combat screen is the sea where the opponents can move their ships close to each other and fight when the two ships meet? and when a giant octopus attacks a ship, it stays in the water and tryes to get ppl from the ship or drown the ship if you don't kill it fast enough? if the sea monsters like the octopus would stay in water while they fight, the ship would have to be quite small. maybe a giant octopus would count as another ship in the combat screen. i wonder how the sprite sizes would affect implementing this.

would not sound too bad.
