A vampire story based campaign
Evening Heroes of Might and Magic enthusiasts… I propose to ya’ll a question. You see, I ‘m currently composing a short story to be applied to a Heroes campaign but, uh, do I want to do build the maps with the Heroes III or IV editor? I know they each have their ups and downs and it’s usually a matter of preference, but I’d rather go by what someone else suggests, because I don’t feel like thinking for myself today. Which editor do you think I should use for my story based campaign? Please suggest wisely because map-making is a timely investment! : - )

A new campaign should require a new Map Editor! And.....you could split the difference between H3 and H4 by using the new WoG Map Editor released just last week! You can find it on the link below my post in the WoG Archives link. That is, if that's what you'd like to do.

It really depends on what you want to do.
Heroes 3 and the WoG add-on (with the new object editor) enables almost unlimited customization. If you have some scripts in mind, the Heroes 4 editor is more user-friendly.
Why not wait a few weeks for the Heroes 5 editor, though? I was told it seemed promising. In addition, your work would get more attention that way.
Finally, you should know the game well before creating maps or campaigns. If I were you, I'd go for the sequel I was more familiar with.

Sorry if I misled you. WoG (Wake of Gods) is the add-on to Heroes 3. Numerically it's called 3.58. Thus, the halfway point between H3 and H4. If you don't have WoG installed for Heroes 3, you won't be able to use the WoG Map Editor. But if you did have WoG, then the new Editor is something you must have. Not only can you put WoG creatures on the map you could'nt put on before (Commanders, Gods), you can now assign objects (trees, rocks, shrubs, anything) to do whatever you want them to be ( Well, Sanctuary, Stables, anything.)
I don't know much about the Heroes 4 Editor, since I don't own H4, which is why I don't mention it.
