Improving DUEL MODE (Bugs+Balance+Features)

Duel mode, it's easy, quick and satisfying. A number of issues remain:

1)Divine guidance is still bugged and sometimes while does not work.

2)There are other heroes which would be considered imbalanced, overpowered etc by many and in many cases they are right. Some of the stronger duelers need weakening.

Then there are some features that would be nice to have:

3)While pros would probably know the spells and war machines each heros get, other can only see the units when picking a hero.

4)Ability to customize heroes/armies to some extent (Arguably imbalanced)

4b)Alternatively each hero gets 2 presets of units/spells to give more variety and options

5)Ability to save replays of duels to show off, recount mistakes, improve, proof that you won vs who etc

6)Option to pick battle music

7)Adding tiers do duels much like the fight between godric and markal at the end of the undead campaign.(Once you lose all your units your second wave of units appears).

Some heroes can't beat other Heroes. Deirdre can only beat Raven 1/10 times and only if Raven makes a mistake. Half the heroes can't beat Deleb which is like the most overpowered hero of all... Jhora has waaaay too much mana. Definitely needs a lot of work.

Deleb makes me angry.

I remember Jhora and Eruina as being quite powerful too.  Hmm no make heroes.

Anyhow, I agree that it would be nice to have more information.  For example I was playing against an opponent ranger whose master hunters had no range penalty.  What skill is that?  Or do the heroes get artifacts?

I'd like to be able to see the hero skill trees...I never whether to use rain of arrows or not.

So we do need more information in duel mode.

I believe there will be an option to customize duel heroes in patch 1.3 so hopefully some of these things will be fixed.

Here's are my findings so far:
Klaus steamrolled all demon heroes with 20-25 losses not even funny
Klaus lost to sinitar with 4 hydras alive probably something I did wrong so...
Klaus vs razzak felt balanced(ish)
Sinitar obliterated ossir
Deleb also crushed ossir
My findings about raven and deidre are the same as a previous post

I play duels very rearly but then I do I use Eruina. Thats because I consider myself a Dungeon player.

One bug that realy changes the tide of battle is that sometimes this hero has tactics ability and sometimes not. I know that some other hero has a ability that disables tactics but that happend to me playing against different heros.

What I'd like to see as a customization is:

Skills:Gimme enough xp for 15 lvls and I'll get them on my own.

Armies:To be able to choose up to x weeks' worth of creatures which sets same army strength for enemy as well.Say 4 archangels,8 paladins,12 inquisitors etc.

Heroes:Assuming the previous will be implemented I see no reason for not being able to choose my hero.After all I don't like playing with set heroes and armies.

Finally spells:Being able to choose spells which are possible to find in one's mage guild(except low lvl ones as 1 and 2) or all spells your hero can learn skillwise.

No artifacts please,they harm the balance of a duel.Especially Ossir's unicorn horn bow!

That's not a bug.  If both armies have tactics, no one gets the extra movement.

Deleb, Eruina, Jhora, and Galib are all overpowered.  The balance is ridiculous because you have to choose a counter hero for all other heroes.

I have managed to beat all these heroes, but I MUST use counter heroes.

Ossir will ALWAYS be Razzak if a certain formation is used (I am like 15 and 0 with that).  I've played over 100 games of Duel, so I've got the experience now.  Every once in a while, I try a different hero for fun against those other tough ones, but no chance (unless the other player totally sucks).

The most annoying bug is when other people can't join each other's games.  Happens at least 50% of the time.  Even if the version number is correct.  Serious fix needed there.

It's not like that in the real game (not duel) for sure. So why it's like that in duels?

I had made an H3 map 'Mortal Combat' where there were heroes with no specials,no starting skills,a pandora's bow with xp for 25 lvl next to them(out of reach for the other heroes) and 20 weeks' worth of armies on them(horde dwelling taken into account AND necromancy=+skeletons).Also had spells that were likely to appear in each' mage guild.Boy that was fun! Unfortunately duels aren't really balanced so at first if you lose you can't know if you just suck or you faced an uber hero.No documentation of abilities,skills and artifacts(shouldn't be there) doesn't help either.

so if something that's plainly wrong happens every time it's not a bug but a feature?!

Heh. I've made a wog map - 8 heroes, 8 weeks' armies (max upgraded), creatures with maxed experience stack, all spells. That was really a nice test.. too bad that Tazar and his hell hydras kept owning all without any effort.
