Poll Question:
Orcs - greenskins, redskins, brownskins or whatever else?
I made this poll only to find out the answer to the latest qouestion in the thread *The perfect Stronghold*. Here I want to ask you, what should the orcs in the expansions be like? Do you prefer greenskins, redskins, brownskins or want other skin colors? Or maybe do you want to differ more types of orcs? Fell free to vote and please send a comment to your decision. Thank you.

I think they should be brownskins (tanskins), everybody is sick of the green orcs. I want them to be like in Dark Messiah.

I got used to the orcs from Lord of the rings,so that is how I'd like them to be,ugly,not with steroidsa,with bad teeth.and since J.R.R.Tolkien invented the orcs for the very first time,they should look like he drawed them and how he thought of them to be

As much as I respect Tolkien and his work, he did not create the orcs, he found them in the European folklore.
As to the orcs... it doesn't really matter what color they are, but how do they look overall.

I remember also reading somewhere that Tolkien got orcs, dwarfs, and elfs from the various european folrlore. However, you do need to credit him for making those creature as a civilzation and giving them the sterotype image that we see them today. He made them famous....
I also remember reading another where that the skincolor of Orc in Tolkien was never much of issue, nor did it say much about it... it is the Warhammer that first made Orc greenskin... which was later copied by Blizzard in warcraft.

That's true, AFAIK Tolkien never really described the orcs and the original drawings are in black and white, so we can't rely on the best fantasy source in this case.

I dont know that Tolkien guy of yours, but he is not going to help us at all... And you were really thinking he created the orcs??? I could also have told you they are from a european myth.
And for your information, this is a poll, so you should vote and write comments about your decisions and NOT only discuss here som Tolkien!!!

Orcs should be brown,and a bit of dark green,just not to much,and be very very ugly.....also they would be light-armed creatures which stay in large groups in order to survive first of all,and to inflict as much damage on the enemy as possible.veteran orcs should look a bit more bigger with tusks,and whield maces with some large shields for protection.
BTW Tolkien was a genius!!!!!Think what was in his head at that time to invent such a world!!
