Dualing Strategy and Advice

Not sure if this is already covered in another topic, but would anyone be willing to offer advice on dual mode battles?

-- Which heroes are the best and against whom?

-- What are the best strategies to use in dualing?

-- When playing Sylvan, what are the favored enemies, and can you choose them?

-- Do any of the dungeon heroes have elemental chaining?

Any help is appreciated, as I haven't fared to well in the dualing arena!

Heroes from heroes 5, these heroes are best used against your opponent.

-- What are the best strategies to use in dualing?

Try to win by killing the other sides troops

-- When playing Sylvan, what are the favored enemies, and can you choose them?

Your favoured enemy should be your opponent, and u can chose him while setting up the game I guess.

-- Do any of the dungeon heroes have elemental chaining?

I dont know the answer to this one.

Any help is appreciated, as I haven't fared to well in the dualing arena!

Good luck1!!

I think he's sarcastically implying that your questions are too general.  Or something.

Duel is like a game of scissors-paper-stone. The seemingly overpowered heroes all have counters or so I read.

I've only played 2 duel games so far - won one, lost one. And yes, when I lost, I lost to a Haven hero. When I won, I was using a Haven hero. So perhaps Haven heroes are slightly stronger? The Archangels' ressurrect ability might be what turns the tide of battle. Especially when you raise a stack of Paladins when fighting undead.

Well first of all not all heroes are equal so you just try to make the best with what you get.Right clicking twice a hero you can see his inventory and skills.I can't really compare them because I play them vs AI and not a good human opponent but certain heroes while seemingly overpowered may be easily defeated by other not so top tiered ones(Deleb still kicks @ss but will almost always lose to Razzak.Against Ossir it can be anybody's match though she has the edge). If you right click enemy creatures you can see which are favored .Alternatively you can use rain of arrows and see who is on the receiving end At least one warlock has elem chaining but with no town buildings(altar of elements?) the bonus can only apply to spells, not creatures. As for strategies just play and try to win. It's just a duel man!

I love this age of heroes website when looking for info about heroes 5.  Check this page:

http://www.heroesofmightandmagic.com/heroes5/duel_list.shtml

You can click on the heroes for further information about their skills.

Generally speaking abusing raise dead is a good idea although this may be less effective in 1.3...teleport assault is also nice to block shooters.  Nothing like a stack of ancient treants in the way.

Hey guys, thanks for the help. But does anyone know about the "favored enemies" for the rangers? I was messing around and tried rain of arrows once in a me-vs-me hotseat dual and two creatures in the opposing demonic army were hit. Are they just randomly picked from the opposing army?

Yeah, I've done that -- and for some dinner entertainment you can even do auto combat vs. auto combat (Did that last night as I enjoyed my microwave vegtable lasagna)

Ha!  Funny.

I'm 36 and 3 with Duels, so I think it's fair to say I'm pretty good at it.

It's mainly statistics and logic.  You do things that will produce the most damage in the shortest period of time.  Whether this is protecting yourself with endurance, doing direct damage with destructive magic, or simply charging across with paladins.  You must remember about units getting separated and stranded (a bad thing).  You must use terrain to your advantage (choking off movement locations).  You sometimes sacrifice units to make the enemy waste a powerful counter attack.

It takes time to figure all this out but having a solid foundation of logic and reasoning really helps.

If you have specific questions or theories ask away.
