Ok, so I've been thinking about it and here's what I've come up with.
HC isn't perfect. There are now, and there will always be things here that can be improved. Sometimes it can be negative here, sometimes there is more fighting than other times. Sometimes people post like madmen, and sometimes it gets quiet. It's pretty much always like that.
I think what happens in HC is that every once in a while (likely linked to lunar phases) someone posts something about Red Stars - or something about what's wrong here. These posts always wake people up and get the activity going. The main reason is that people never agree - most people are fueled by the belief that they are always right - so unless everyone agrees with them the bickering goes on. (and on and on) So from there, we now have active threads - and lots of people are reading these threads and they too start looking for what's wrong.
In a world where nothing is perfect, we will always find something wrong. Even if there was no problem before - by looking - we have now created one.
Since we're spending so much time looking for what's wrong - we stop seeing what's good. It doesn't matter that all that is good is staring us plainly in the face - we're just too busy looking for what's bad to recognize it.
I apologize to the people I've snapped at and been short with. I've been negative too - I get frustrated when all I get is negative feedback. It makes me feel I'm accomplishing nothing when no matter what happens, there is always someone complaining at me. When I feel like I'm not getting anything done, I start to wonder why I bother trying (see how the whole negative thing is just an ugly vicious cycle?)
The whole truth of it is this - if Heroes Community wasn't so awesome I wouldn't bother with all the whining. I'd just leave. But the fact is - this is a great forum.
This is a place where people can leave for a few months, or even years but come back to find their friends are still around waiting to talk to them. Its a place where you can be yourself in all your different shapes and sizes - you can be the comedian, the poet, the spammer, the gamer, the geek or even the Ultimate Male. No matter who you are, there is always someone here who will understand what you're about and welcome you. This place has history, you can look back and see how people have changed and laugh at what an idiot you used to be *grin*
I could go on and on about HC, but I know that my post is already going long and I've already lost half my audience.
It really doesn't matter how much I love the community anyways, I'm just one person. The things that make this place great for me, may not even be the same things that keep you coming back. My job here is just to try to do whatever I can to keep this place together, so that when our old friends return, they see the lights are still on and there's always someone here waiting to welcome them back.
What's important is that you stop looking for what's wrong - and take a look at what's good, and what you love. Once you remember what it is, you'll realize it's been here all along.

I couldnt agree more & I should know.
I was here a long time & I seen the change in so many ways for being active on & off.
I was mostly getting at the actual behavior changes of members & the sudden change of the environment of HC.
Seems it's getting a little better after I made this thread.
