I got addicted bad... again...
Besides my well known addiction to TnT I have recently found out that I got addicted to another... thing.
It all started a couple of months ago I guess (I lost all track of time) I saw one of those commercials beside the "Heroes Community" logo, it said TribalWars... I have never played an online internet game before, wasn't really excited to try it out at the first time. At the beggining it seemed pretty boring, make 2 scheduled building decission and just wait for them to finish building and for your resources to fill your warehouse.
I thought it was a toss, thought I would close the window and forget all about it tommorow. The next day I got up early and built more buildings, I took a break from work and drove back home to add more buildings when I knew that I would have enough resources. I have tried my luck joining a few tribes, meeting some people, making allies, took over more villages and found myself dominating my area of the map. I have joined world 2 of tribal wars in its 30th week going and 2 weeks ago entered its top 100 ranked players...
This however didn't come that easy... I missed a lot real life events, from parties to basketball games to skipping a few days at work, had to wake up sometimes at night and check my attacks and then send new ones... Once I've grown in points I started waking up an hour earlier and going to sleep later with many interruptions during my sleep time and some times even allnighters, I got a premium account and started paying money to get that extra edge and easier gameplay. I have been promoted to baron in a top ranked tribe and was recieving loads of requests of "help me! support me!", "send me resources!", "Take this player out for me!" and many more diplomacy related pleads and threats.
When I'm at work my thoughts are always planning my next moves or diplomacy affairs that I'll have to deal with when I get back home. Once we are done, I drive home with the gas pedal squeezed to the floor of the car to see if I am under attack or my troops captured another village and how many troops did I lose. I come to my computer and my heart is about to jump out of my chest from all the excitement, I press on the refresh button and go to reports, when I win there is nobody happier than me in the whole world, if I lose all my mood for the day and just sit there angry hitting myself for the wrong decision or attack plan.
3 weeks ago I tried to quit the game, I woke up in the middle of the night and found out that one of my most expensive units died. I went to settings and pressed account deletion, I knew this cannot go on like this, I am becomming obsessed with a stupid online game. I went to sleep and couldn't sleep till morning, I got up and logged in again. I was surprised that it gave me the option to withdraw the account deletion and I was back in the game, I was happy yet again. But now it's really becomming a problem cause I grow so fast that I need to attend to so many villages plus take care of the diplomatic issues of my tribe and recruit new players while still doing all the real life stuff...
I tried quitting it again yesterday but with no success, it's a way of life for me now but I don't want it to be anymore...
I'm helpless and addicted

Are you looking for suggestions? Give your account to somebody else, then go stay with a relative or someone else in a different part of the country for about three days. That's how much time it will take to "reset".
Then after that don't feel guilty about having wasting a couple months of your life, squandering massive amounts of time is the privilege of every twenty-year old

Sell the account. Simple as that. Then if you can keep yourself from starting a new one, you can congratulate yourself and spend the money on booze.

I was beyond sad when I read this thread. I want to say that I’m sad for your loss; you might be saying to yourself what the hell is she talking about. The fact is that I have been around a lot of devastating addiction in my life. I can say that I have never personally had one, because of the destruction that I have been witness to I made a choice not to be that way. You are loosing out everyday that you decide to sit in front of that computer and live your life through a game.
I was unaware of the gaming addition term until I met my current BF. I was shocked to know that the side effects and the loneliness that one feels when they are addicted to a drug or alcohol is the same with gamers. He quit WOW and has a very limited amount of time that he allows himself to play any games for fear of another episode with a life focused on something so fruitless. He has since quit smoking and has even changed other aspects of his life that he could not have done while hooked on gaming.
The essay that RSF told you to read says it all so I will not get into the signs or how to stop yourself from being consumed. I will however tell you that what you are giving up is something that you can not get back You are giving up time with loved ones, time being doing something great with you life, and time spent not consumed with the next move.
I don’t know you but I know that the circle of friends that my BF has, and I have met them all, have the same addiction. It is ruining a nine year marriage as we speak, another one has been told they may have to have surgery on their hands because gaming has caused carpel tunnel syndrome, and still another that has not even had any kind of relationship in over a year and is depressed.
The amount of time that you spend doing this could be used doing so many other things. My boyfriend is now enrolled in college and has found his love in working out and feeling healthy again. We couldn’t have the relationship that we do if he spent the time that he was spending before on his computer. This online gaming becomes your life in more than one way. You start to become your characters, you begin to live in the game, and everything that you think of corresponds with the game.
Do yourself a favor and those around you as well, get some help or make a real effort to stop the cycle. I watch the friends that have recently entered my life and I look at what they do everyday. It all revolves around the game and around the next level and around whatever high that offers them. Please listen to me when I say that an addiction of any kind needs to be dealt with as such. I know that I don’t know you and you may read this and just ignore it but I think that everyone has a greater purpose. Find yours, do the soul searching and understand that this steams from something deeper than the thrill you get from the click of your mouse.

But I was new so I thougth about it in school and i got in trouble

this summer i used to play it too. in september, school began and i stopped playing. and also because with 6 villages, the game goes too micromanagement-based annoying thingy, i hate that.
btw i was in Briton tribe in world 1(there were no other worlds back then). most of the people there were either polish or US. and there was one british guy who claimed he was related to Edward (something) and thus about the 400. inheritor of british throne(he sounded quite serious). just 399 SECRET murders, and he would be the King of England. isnt it funny who all play it.

From what I've heard playing on world 1 is a lot more difficult because of the low resource rate. They have fixed it in worlds 2 and 3, now you get 33% more resources from your villages and building nobles and high level buildings is a lot easier.
With 6 villages on world 1 you must have been quite a player

Hey lol CoCodemon is one of my best old heroes buddies from gamespy, we toss and curse each other all the time and neither of us is taking anything serious. I'm sure that he forgot himself a little and didn't realize that he wasn't in the gamespy lobby where everything is allowed and of course that it didn't insult me one bit, please whoever gave him this penalty can you remove it...? Pretty please...

lol yeah TAINT got completely wiped out... Some refugees still remain though, but they would soon be hunted down... It's good that I have left the sinking ship right at the start of the war, wasn't ready to quit just yet

I got addicted too.The game is called IMVU,its cool but my mother said that I cant play it cause I was failing school so now I can play but a little,it happed 2 weeks ago now I found this.

When I get a new game I normally get addicted for the first week, play it nonstop, then don't play it again, not many games stick.
