The idea behind the Wii Remote is to improve gameplay, so if gameplay is your priority, you should immediately be considering the Wii. And it's not like the Wii has bad graphics; it's not like you're looking at little Atari squares or an ugly polygonal Mario that is so bad that it takes away from the game. It's a seventh-generation video game console, with appropriate video capabilities.

No, I suppose it doesn't have a hard drive, but this doesn't do anything for me. It's a gaming console. What do you need a hard drive for? If you don't like the music in the games, then go to the game's settings, turn off the music, and pull up your CD player next to your console.

I take to heart what the executives of Nintendo said: the graphics in consoles are good enough - it's all shiny and realistic already - and console companies have been forgetting that some of us want fun and innovation, not graphics. I'd prefer getting to actually move my arm to shoot the guy's brains out over seeing a picture real enough that I can believe that's what the brains look like in real life.

Regarding Zelda and other ruined games... although I haven't got a Wii myself, my brother in the next city over does, and he's an avid fan of the classics, A Link to the Past being one of his favourites. He was pretty damned disappointed by the Gamecube version, but he described the Wii version as "the greatest game ever made".

I would personally prfer a haddrive to store my games on then a memory card.

Music is just another thing you can store on it, I was giving a pure example.

And if you are looking for gameplay, good gameplay, head for the Xbox360 or PS3 when it comes out.

Memory card? The Wii doesn't use a memory card. The savegames are stored in the system's internal flash memory.

IMHO, Nintendo gameplay has far outclassed Sony for a looong time, and they both leave the Xbox series in the dust. I've tried the Playstation and the Playstation 2, and they disappointed. Metal Gear Solid and Devil May Cry are pretty much all the latter had going for it, I think. The PS3 I doubt will do much more than dent a wallet. But maybe that's just my cup of tea; I was brought up on Zelda and Sonic games.

One of the biggest things I want the Wii for though is playing remastered emulations of NES, SNES, N64 and the Sega Genesis.

I can answer that. Nobody.

PS3 is kind of a gimmick imo. I really think they are trying to impress people with their flashy graphics and powerful system. And plus the PS3 graphics aren't any better than the Wii, if you don't have a Hi-Def TV. Plus I've seen some of the games on the PS3. The graphics are very detailed, but the animations don't always look so real.

I was looking at the basketball game. Sure the guy puts up his arm to catch the pass as he runs up the court, but the ball goes like half a foot off to his right and then it suddenly teleports into his hand. Seriously guys, it's not about the gameplay with the PS3. It's about a flashy hardware system meant to impress people to buy the game. The Wii Remote is meant to improve gameplay.

The only thing I do think the PS3, may have an advantage is when it comes to writing AI scripts for your single player FPS games. AI takes a lot of processing power. XBox will be just as good, provide all the same games that the PS3 does. Plus it has more games out right now.

If you want to go buy a PS3. Just go buy an XBox 360 and a Wii and you'll spend the same amount of money, but you'll get a much better selection of games to choose from. After playing games like Monkeyball and Zelda, I just see too much potential in the Wii. The Madden 07 game is a lot of fun too.

Games that are gonna be sick for the Wii.

Mario
Mariokart
Metroid
Super Smash Bros Brawl

I just look at those games and think to myself. Ridiculous. The potential of the Wii remote is completely unseen with the exception of Monkeyball.

Over the next year, after Mario and Metroid come out, I think we'll begin seeing truly more and more great amazing things that this remote can do. The gameplay I'm sure is going to improve exponentially with the Wii, where as PS3 is simply held back by its inferior controller.

You are wrong RSF, alot of people need it, and with the amount of games that you will eventually play your save games will keep getti ng more and more, usually with the memory cards or flash memory or whatever they usually get the space depleted really early, 8 GBs is enough for me as I can store a hell of alot of save games on it.

Think about it

What about when you have a save file, or a profile, or a character, or maps, or ANYTHING on your console, it's all fine, but then you want to go around to a mates place and play with that (insert example)?
This is a real question actually, because there might be a way to do this with the Wii, but a flash memory doesn't sound like it does this.

The HD is good because it stores games, maps and content download. You can't argue against a Hard drive, it's good.

The Wii remote, by most accounts, is kinda like alot of the features on the Nintendo DS. They're good at times, but have you ever seen the game Wario something for DS? The whole point of it, was to complete 20 second tacked-on challenges which show off the features which would usually be pointless apart from this feature specific challenge. For example, theres a microphone on the DS. What the hell would you use that for. In this mario game, you have to blow into the microphone to blow up a ballon within the time frame, to succeed the challenge. Then you go onto the next challenge, where you have to spin around on the touch screen a billion times.

I'm not saying that it's going to be alot like this, but as said in alot of reviews and stuff alot of the Wii-specific elements of the release games seem very tacked on. That annoys me alot.

I would be fun slashing swords and stuff though, so I would like to play a good shooter or something on the Wii.

But the other games;
from memory RSF mentioned
Mario Kart
Mario
Smash Bros
Metroid

The three mario games... they were fun on 64 and SNES when I was 10, and the SNES verion is still fun in class sometimes but I wouldn't buy a console to run around as Mario in High-Def. (does Wii have High-Def?)
But I do hope to play Super Smash Bros at a friends place or something, that is fun when you get like 4 players

Then Metroid. From what I've seen, Metroid is one of the worse FPS I have ever played. I find the premise ridiculous, the protagonist, the setting, the weapons, everything. It might be fun to point the controller at corners of the screen for a bit, but again I wouldn't buy a console for this.

You can go to an arcade, or buy an extra addon gun for playstation which I had once but it didn't work on Plasma screen lol.

And graphics do help alot. Playing Gears of War in High-Def is absolutely amazing, it has some of the best graphics I've seen, it actually looks real. Give it surround sound, a widescreen HD tv, you're set.

But they're not everything, graphics. Guild Wars graphics aren't that good, but it's still a very fun game. Same with older games.

But you shouldn't have to choose gameplay over graphics, you should be able to have both. It's not like graphics sacrifice anything, you could say load times, but in Gears of War, each load time takes about 5 seconds (literally) and hardly ever loads, and again theyre th ebest graphics I've seen.
Same with oblivion, the great graphics add to the immersion.

I think with the wii remote I would want really good graphics otherwise it would be dodgy. I mean with the shooting and slashing, unless the graphics are realistic I wouldn't feel in the game, which the Wiiremote tries to promote.

But after all this I haven't seen much of Wii graphics so they could be fine for all I know.

Another thing why ppl will pick Wii over ps3 is their price...

250$ for wii
650$ for ps3

I predict a bright future for wii, since it is imo the best, yet cheapest console of current generation...

Well with the PS2 when they first released that, over here it was about $700+, but it still seemed to sell alot of them, and then Xbox came out I think, shortly after, or at around the same time but much less in price.

That was a good move that Microsoft made, because with Xbox being much better in gameplay, graphics and all that, and it was cheaper, it sold pretty fast.

Although PS2 might have a greater selection of games, some of them are not as good as they are on the Xbox.

I would rather see a machine which is better overall, in graphics, gameplay and all that, then have a console which has way more games but doesnt have as good gameplay and graphics as the xbox does.

Now for the wii, I have heard it is really good and stuff, and it is by Nintendo so some of my old games could be played on it, I think.

Ok Mightymage since you apparently own one (I think), I could play my old Nintendo64 games on it?

Would it still have the save games I had or would I have to start over again?

Say like for example, I could play the best N64 game, which is Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and play it on the Wii?

Gamecube > PS2 > XBox

Wii > PS3 > Xbox360

That's the most incorrect post I have seen in my life.

It should be:

Xbox > Gamecube > PS2

Xbox360 > wii > ps3

Moved it from somewhere I forget.

Trogdor, you actually like the Gamecube? The gamecube can be easily compared to vomit. Nothing good about it until it's gone, in which case it's absence can be good. Well, better than it being there.

I have an XBOX and a PS2, so I can judge those

XBOX > PS2

Then I played Gamecube, hated it, haven't heard anything good about it
SO I can fairly confidently say that

XBOX > PS2 > Cube

But that was then.
atm I have a 360 and a PS3, and so far

360 > PS3

but only slightly. The sixaxis thing is pretty cool, I just need to get some good games, and I can see the PS3 overtaking the box.

I haven't played the Wii though, I haven't even seen one.

So there. You're both wrong.
Except William. Who is partially right.
Although only through a lucky guess

Let me see If I'm understanding right.  You want to know if you can take your N64 cartridge and play it in the Wii?  If that's what you're asking then no.  Not that I am aware of.  I believe the Wii only plays Wii games and Gamecube games.  Any games from other systems must be downloaded to the Wii Hardrive from the Wii store.
Did that answer your question?
