Editing and modding

Hey if you have HOF and you want to be able to build renegade units instead of the usual haven units you can follow these steps:

1- go to data
2- -> gamemechanics
3- -> townbiuldingsharedstats
4- -> Haven
5- -> Dwelling_7
6- -> Altar_of_Heaven ( click and open )
7- -> change CREATURE_Archangel to CREATURE_SERAPH

That is it enjoy!

can you put the other renegde upgrades up, thanks,

all the renegades are better except the battle griffen, Imperial griffen has unlimeted retailiation and battle dive

also if i mess up, all i need to do is change it back right? no need to uninstall?

Ted don't change the original .pak file! Extract the files you want to change (like creature files) and then make all same named folders there before the files. Then just make it .rar and rename the pack to .pak and it should work. And if you wanna play whitout the renegades just simply remove the own made .pak file away from HeroesV\data folder.

Renegade vs Haven

Hi

I made a mod some time ago that uses this kind of changes to the Town-Buildings.

But it's something different because using it, you can edit your maps so you can have 2 or more Haven-Towns on it and in one you can build the normal Haven-Units and in the other you can get the Renegades.

no worries, i couldnt find the gamemachinecs flie anyway, so i gave up, i have the Heroes 5 Collectors Edition, if that changes anything, also can you give me a more information packed instruction manuel, i am hopeless at editing files

thnks for the mod anyway, a few questions, in the select a town thing, is their a different picture for the Renegade upgrades?

No, you can't select the Town as a different Race when starting a new game, you can just edit user-maps to use this mod

*Snif* *Snif* Do i smell noob here? Don't worry Ted i made the Renegade Mod for youHere:Renegade but this file on HeroesV\Dataa1 folder and then all upgradet creatures in haven town should be Renegades.

If you wanna play whitout the mod just simply remove the .pak file in another place. The file is downloadable only for 1 week on that web site..

hey Ted, there is no question that you have heroes 5 game. right? now what you need to do is:  

1- to go find your data foler in Heroes 5 folder
2- open it
3- right click on the data.pak file
4- it will bring the a list of open with .... , and ect
5- Now click open with and select winrar program from your browes list
6- it will open up a pag and you will try to find gamemechanics and extrat all files to the data folder ( the one mentioned at top.
7- after that read the above message.

Can this approach be used to make other new towns?  And is it possible to use a combination of buildings (some retextured I'm hoping) to make a new-looking town?  Of course it would take some experimentation to see what worked together.

Ted, when you said if you don't like it you can change it back right. the answer to that queastion is yes.

I for example I only change Archangel with Seraph and leave the others alone.

In past I have seen that people wanted to change death knight with wrath or wright or something like that. all they could of done was that they had to just do the steps above only this time for undead.

I think it could be used to make new towns, but:
1. You could only use creatures that are in the game already
2. AFAIK you could only use the whole town-graphics-set(buildings etc), because i just copied all the files for the haven town to make this one.

But it would be possible to make a town that uses different creatures from other towns, for eyample you could make a dungeon(or any other race) town where you can buy all kind of dragons or something like this.

I see no reason why that shouldn't work. It would require A LOT of work by scilled people, however!

Also, be aware that Haven Renegade units are stronger than regular Haven units. Exchanging the normal units with renegades will seriously tip the ballance of the game - and make Haven even more overpowered than it already is!

hmm... anybody remember? newest version. unrar & copy to data folder

MOD v.1.03

- changes haven's upgrades and creatures in dwellings to renegades
- works with hammers of fate 2.0 of course
- changes vittorio to duel hero with renegade units
- adds creatures' text fixes (for example vindicator's abilities are cleave and large shield, and in original only 'cleave' is written in creature distription, now that is changed)
- changes buildings' names and distripcions, accordly to produced creature

Guys I noticed that when you do the steps above and you want to upgrade a creature from lower level to higher level it won't work. eg. pesant to  landlord won't work. so here is what you need to do:

1-  dada -> Gamemechanics -> Creature -> Cretures -> Haven and then you will follow these steps for fallen and arch angel:

1- open angel file
2- change:
   <PairCreature>CREATURE_ARCHANGEL</PairCreature>
  to:
   <PairCreature>CREATURE_SERAPH</PairCreature>

3- save and Exit

4-later you go to the file Seraph and open it
5- Change :
  <PairCreature>CREATURE_UNKNOWN</PairCreature>
  To:
  <PairCreature>CREATURE_ANGEL</PairCreature>
6- Save and exit.

and that is kind of similar what you do to other unit files.

Now I have Question about the Training that once the units are upgraded they will not be able to be trained to higher level creatures:

Eg: landlord to marksman or Archer
