the swarm

THE SWARM!!!!!!!!

aka: mutants ,insect monsters, the hive
colours: erm, brown, black
worship: the queens, and the mysterious flylord
country: the shrouded south!
capital: the queens hive
motto: we are the mutants
core philosophy: attack, evolve, defeat, feed.
symbols: the fly.

the swarm came from the shrouded south like a plague of locusts. they exist only to feed and reproduce. from the tiny lavra, to the massive harvesters. they are mindless and emotionless, controled by the power of the queens, the flylord, and their personal servants and blessed, the mutators and the mutants. the mutants are sentient, normal men and women from the shrouded south, who, for some strange reason, weren't consumed by the swarm straight away, but instead taken back and diped into a strange liquid (the blood of the queens) in some strange ritual. once they come out, however, they are anything but normal. some swelled up to an enormous size, their bellies and fat stores made large to house teeming new life. others were made cunning, to use the power of magic quickly and decterously. others, still, were transformed into guileful converters for the swarms cause

creatures

lvl1: lavra -> gniblling lavra
lvl2: spawn -> gibbering spawn
lvl3: warrior -> slicing warrior
lvl4: bloat -> hive bearer
lvl5: caster -> spell master
lvl6: enslaver -> slave maker
lvl7: havester -> monstrous harvester

Hmm, I thought there already was a town with the insect-theme, or am I wrong?

Anyway, it sounds pretty cool, but instead of "caster" or "mage" or something, name it something more original, more insect-like.. it doesn't need to have the "caster" in it's name (witness Pit Fiends).

Overall it's quite well designed for such a start. Warlords Battlecry 3 also has a Swarm-ish faction, maybe look there for inspiration? dunno just a thought

I would rate the idea

I just didn't get the point.
A swarm of insects that fights?
You said they are mindless, but they have a country, capitol and mottos?
I just don't understand the diraction.

And why in thier army there are simple Haven's units like: Catser, Warrior and what harveste has to do with all that?
It's very strange.

This time I really didn't understand where are you going to.
Bixie, you can do much much better.

They could be mindless, but have a single mind -- a queen or somesuch.
It sounds good if you think from another perspective though.

the death has pretty much summed it up. the queens control these insect monster via mind control, and also the other connection is that all the nutrients that these creature eat, they transfir them to the queens, who create more insect monsters. the queens have now "eaten" alot of the land they can, and now turn their attention north.

the mutants don't have this connection to the queens, so form cults to worship the queens, which includes bloats, casters and enslaver parts, all headed up by a mutator, who mutates the insects to form more powerful beings.

maybe i should change it and include more insect monsters in.

I still think you miss the point of the Heroes 5 cities. They don't represent a group of (more or less) related beasts. They represent different humanoid civilizations.

I do like a Swam insect idea (and yes, other posted before too). They present a good oppertunity to add a more Rushing (or "Zerging") theme of strategy into a game play.  (again, I like faction to have more unique themes of strategies).  I have my line up started... but never finished...

I would set the race/civilization level of the insect to be like that of Starcraft, Warhammer40k, and Starship Trooper (all have an army of insects), in which the droids and the warriors are pretty mind less beast, but all is control by a intellegent queen or overseer (by telepathic means).  Unlike other civilization with the goal of greed or glory or peace or continuation of their culture, the insects just want to feed (and guess who are the food) and get more land and resouce for their queen.  Very primal nature, yet still enough to build a civilization of sort. (with its own building and social structures,... like those giant african ant hills)

Of couse, that is just my prefernce of things...

Good idea but horrible lineup. You can't have an insect unit called simply "warrior", that'll cause confusion. "Week of Warrior", for example. Everyone thinks "whoa now we'll have some new bonus like 50% more damage in battles for melee units" and then see the defeatingly boring message "Double growth for the Hive's third level creature"
And all other names suck too... Harvesters could be maximally level 2 units for example. You put them at level 7.
Now, for concrete advices:
It's not spelled lavra but larva, and I have no idea what gniblling means... Perhaps the upgrade should be white larva or something like that. So here's some sort of an alternative lineup I've come up with, use and modify it freely, I'm not a "copyright" freak
lvl1: larva -> white larva
lvl2: gatherer -> havester
lvl3: cave crawler -> hive crawler
lvl4: giant wasp -> dire wasp
lvl5: mantis -> chosen mantis
lvl6: predator -> mature predator
lvl7: mistress -> hive queen
Hive queens, or lesser queens, are actually emissaries of the main Queen. They have minds of their own and can control their hives, but the main Queen still controls them.
Think up the rest on your own, this is your town after all

Warlords Battlecry? Just once, at my pal's, a couple of years ago. I haven't based this lineup on it. Why? Is it so similar to a faction there?

Well there is a race (it has 16!) named The Swarm and it's close to this faction here.

i see what you mean . well maybe i will change the line up.

its a large creature that disemblows creatures and then digests them (they have no chance of ressurection, none, whatso ever!) with a high attack, damage and hitpoints for a level seven.

and you want me to put it as a level 2

i was thinking of mutators as emissaries of the main queens. the mutators mutate the creatures into higher creatures (they are the heroes, of course). i don't like the idea of having a queen in combat, but the rest is good.

Well that descriptions fits a Queen better, since bee and ant harvesters are small, numerous and weak in combat, but useful for... well, harvesting...
Queens however devour stuff and are strong and powerful... But since you're talking of fantasy insects, I guess harvesters could be big and mighty, but I'd still prefer them to be just numerous gatherers...
