You win a cookie. It IS a Faceless.
The Faceless is as strong as an Angel. It fits perfectly underground. It is strong enough and it adds a little twist to the story. During the campain the troglodytes would realise that Geon was one of the Faceless and that they were used as tools.

The Faceless is a powerfull creature, remnant of the first war. Former followers of MALASSA, The Dragon of DARKNESS, now they follow no master but themselves. They feed with fear and are embodiment of shadows itself. They are wild and uncontrolable. They occasionally aid the Troglodytes, at the cost of blood and fear. They are summoned trough sacrifices. During battles they can turn against their own and kill even allies.

The Faceless cannot be created directly in the town, though a Shadow Altar must be build. Instead, the troglodytes must sacrifice a group of their own creatures in order to gain Faceless units. The amount of units depends on level and cost of the sacrificed creatures.

seems interesting!

wouldn't that make the Trogs also worship MALASSA? if they are making pacts with her cheif followers. and what happens if they face the dungeon, or are they allies?

Mallasa, Dragon of Darkness...
...She used to be the patron deity of the mysterious Faceless but they all disappeared centuries ago and now, she has made a sinister pact with the Dark Elves (Dungeon faction).

That's part of the Myth of creation. Seems the Faceless decided to work for themselves.

I looked at most of the information about the Faceless. It seems in those creatures lost the war against the Angels ages ago. Around 540-560 The Dark Elves were formed and became worshippers of Mallasa. Here is my idea about what happened with the Faceless:

The Faceless, creatures extremely powerfull and arrogant, as old as the world, felt like Mellasa doesn't need them anymore. They lost the war against Angels ages ago.. And it seemed like the Dragon of Shadows finally turned to a new, more promising race - The Dark Elves. The mighty Faceless replaced by a bunch of weak forest-huggers? Never. Insulted by Mallasa's actions, they decided to abandon her and her new favorites. The Faceless would be their own masters now... The Faceless wouldn't be anyone's pawn. They would serve their own goals and follow their own path, and would stop at nothing and no one standing on their path.

The Troglodytes may think they control the Faceless, but in the end the Faceless do whatever they want - and most times they want to feed with the blood, fear and pain of everything living.

Just to be brief... I bought a scanner. This means I'd start uploading images of the units and such! Yey!!! Any comments on the Faceless and the Tunneler are rather wellcome.

the venom spawn is a much improvement on the h4 one

the tunneler looks interesting!

i really like the shadow casters patterns around its skin. very intricket and spiraling. you can tell they are a spiritual type

the faceless doesn't look good, unfortunately. whats with all the tentacles! i thought that the faceless were massive shadows who covered their faces with massive masks

kinda like this

only with fancier masks. lots of swirling patterns, possibly with dragons on.

the racial skill sounds good, but terror isn't a good name...BOO!

try something like "fear of the dark" or "dark nightmares" instead of terror. but it sounds good... BOO!

btw, relentless, i like the the trog grunt! very impressive!

i also like the way you've changed the biology of the trogs, made them more muscler and more resistant to damage (so it would seem) good job!

just wondering, could you do the artwork for my factions?

Yeah, and abilities could be "Number of the Beast", "Hallowed be thy name" and "Run to the hills"... There would be only one hero - Eddie - and he would have the "Iron Maiden" specialty, of course

This town rocks. I can't believe I haven't noticed it before... Everything fits well, campaign is well thought of and interesting (unlike those from original heroes V, the story doesn't rely on Biara changing into someone and everyone being too dumb to notice it), heroes are ok, storyline is nice, and the idea itself (about faceless) is great.
I like their tentacled shape (although it reminds of Warcraft a little), since dark, shadow stuff is already used with wights and wraiths. Great job. I'd like to see this faction in the game (although that's impossible).

just some things that i've noticed!

you say that they have acute senses of smell and hearing. we can see the smelling from the huge nostrils, but they have tiny ears, so that might not work!

if they have an acute hearing, you could have some kind of creature that attacks with sound. using ultra sound, it makes a sound beyond normal hearing (but trogoldytes can hear it), but it bombards the eardrums of the person, causing damage to the brain.

The Faceless isn't a warcraft clone. It has a little of Cthulhu and a little of the Illithids from D&D, a little of that anchent creature from Soul Reaver... It even has something to do with a monster from Terry Pratchet's first Discworld book.
Huge, powerfull, tentacle demigods fit in the underground temples. Its kind of a tradition in fantasy. There's allways a Unspoken One, Elder God, a squid-like demon or something just as horrable in the middle of the temple so our hero could kill it and save the girl. Its as old as Conan The Barbarian.

As for the Sound attack.. Well, sorry, I got rid of the Horror Bat.
(Oh, and bixie, I'd love to help with the artwork, but right now I have a bunch of portraits to make.)

I kinda like this faction but it has things missing as building tree(yes I noticed the dwelling names but...) and the skill percentages. An alternate dungeon with the addition of the mysterious faceless is a nice idea though the creatures themselves are not too original. Its racial is based on a good idea but I still feel that 20% reduction can be a little more than needed even with cavern's low initiative. Nice abilities. The artwork and the heroes get a bonus.

Final grade 68%

Nice, dark and moody! Could be a little more complete though.

Very nice!  One of the best I saw.  I would certainly vote for you~

Wonderful artwork too, especially on the brute, shadowcaster, and faceless.  Masterful indeed.

But one thing I am disapointed is the lack of new ability for each of the creature.

Atleast the Racial Ability is good, so kudo on that.

This is one of my favourite towns, so I rated it first...
I think it deserves 79%, which makes it "very good" by the Excel sheet standards, although I'd personally call it "excellent". A few things are missing though (the building tree, for example).
PM me if you'd like more precise info about how I rated different stuff about your town.
You did a great job overall.

This has to be my favourite town here. I'd be immensely proud if I'd come up with it myself. It's unique and it fits in well; unfortunately it fell short in completeness, dragging it kicking down the ratings... And as I've said elsewhere, I really admire your drawing style!

Final mark: 62%, Good, 8th place
Favourite creature: Shadowcaster
`Personal` mark: Excellent, 1st place
