Heroes are weak!
Well, a level 10 barbarian has 625 hit points. A black dragon has 1100. A normal hero has 240!!
Will You get a level 10 hero first or a black dragon? Whatever - a level 50 barbarian has only got 3485 hut points and other heroes are not worth mentioning...
It seems to me, that heroe is the first one to die in a battle! And so their useless... Magic and damage of them must be powerful... Ive seen in a screenshot, that a level 10 hero does ~100-200 damage... Useless!

Well, heroes shouldn't be strong because then you wouldn't use creatures, I suppose...

I guess they don't need to be tough in combat, they're useful for the bonuses they have from all their secondary and primary skills. Though I prefer the old system better where there were Attack, Defense, Power and Knowledge and heroes couldn't fight.

A few notes.....
First off a lvl 50 barbarian with grandmaster toughness will have more like 10,000 hps. If he has grandmaster defence as well, all damage to him will be halved so it will be more like 20,000 hps. Does that sound weak to you? Yeah he may not be able to take on 50 black dragons but he could easily take on 10 of them, as well as provide many other bonuses.
Secondly doing 200 damage in a burst is not useless. That would be equivelent to say a 100 damage fireball in H3. That is hardly useless, and about what you would expect from a lvl 10 character. Also we don't know the magic skills of the hero in that example. Maybe he barely put any levels into magic.

Probably the hero. To judge by the screenshot of Fiona leveling up (and it's probable that level 10 is only the level of her Reaver class, since her skill levels are somewhere in the high 20s), heroes will be able to level up so much more quickly in this game than in H3. Don't forget that the stats of both creatures and heroes are still not set in stone, so it's likely that they will be balanced out some. Besides, I wouldn't want a level 10 hero to be able to wipe the floor with a dragon - maybe level 30 or higher.

Actually if you have a low spell power, expert fire magic, and your enemy is bunched up, fireball is a great attack spell, and much more effective then spells like lightning bolt and cold ray.
If you don't have a low spell power and expert fire magic, fireball is still so-so when alot of enemies are bunched up.

I thought I was the only one who liked Fireball (because everyone except me seems to dislike the Magog's speciality). Well, I don't think it's a very good spell, but not a very bad one either. I have often experienced that the Fireball hits 3-4 enemies and only one of my own creatures.

hey
isn't that Ozzy Osbourne's old advatar?
anyway, who in there right mind would place a Black dragon against a hero. Of course if you raised the hero up it might actually have a chance!

heroes are nice, but where has the search option disappeared? i cannot seem to find it, all i can see id a choice that says sth like 'from last 100 posts,' etc, and a button 'go,' but no text field..
anyway, i was looking for a thread called 'what heroes should be back ..' and wanted to say i would like atlas to return from homm2.
and, to the topic of this thread.. i don't think atlas would be weak. he has a cute childish face, and that would make even the blackest black dragon laugh until it dies of it.

I'm sure heroes will do just fine. At the very least, they'll be the ones with the artifacts, potions, spells, and special abilities.
They aren't going to release the game ridiculously unbalanced. That would be suicide for the company.

different faces for each hero?
It could be nice if heroes had their real face in the combat screen. Instead of a unique character for each class of hero.
Each hero with his own graphics, animation and sounds.
A heavy work...
Do you think it would be done?

not likely...
...last time I checked even artifacts were not shown in the combat screen... let alone individual heroes...
