No Monoliths mod?

Hey all, as you can see I'm a newb here to the forums, but my friends and I have been playing this game for years, just in our little small group.

So what I am wondering is that is there a way to ban monoliths on random maps? Personally, they're just a pain in the a$$, and my friends and I would really like to play without them.

Also:
I saw SAG's mods, and I downloaded the hillfort/cart/hives/conserv. One, which I thought was pretty nifty, but there, nor anywhere else did I see any mods to get rid of moniliths.

If someone could point me in the right direction, or maybe make me a mod (I'm not sure how easy it is), I would be extremely grateful

it's easy to ban monolith...do u need to ban all monolith or only 1-way? maybe subterranian gates as well ?

whew, thats a releif to hear.

As for the reason we dont like monoliths, we dont exactly have a good reason other than that we dont like having to find where monoliths go everytime we want to go somewhere. And the fact when we're like "Hey, that guy's on the other side of this huge map, there's no possible way he can get to me." and then, >BAM< monolith, and he's right next to you >_>

hehe, but, yeah, thats a releif to hear. Is there a way to get a mod say, by tomorrow night? (lol, friends birthday, just him and a few of our friends going over to his house for a tournament )

But as for what we need to ban: Monoliths both 1 way and 2 way.  As for sub gates, without monoliths, then we could use the underground/ground feature in the game if we didn't want subs.  (After all, there's no point in having an underground if it cant reach the above ground )

If u ban all 2way monoliths, u could get pretty crazy random maps created. All those random maps from 3DO (the originals) are based on templates. If u have a template with 10 or more areas, and u ban monoliths, it will be hard to create a map where all the "connections" are well designed. Instead of being connected by 2 monoliths, 1 subterrean gate and 2 roads, u will probably have 7 roads leading out of your area into other areas. This could end up in having pretty small areas. 1 way monoliths are really annoying somtimes, but 2 way monoliths have an advantage too:
They connect ur area with another area WITHOUT being able to "spy" your area with the help of an observatory for example. Banning them will just bring opponents area closer to yours, but the strength of the guards between those 2 areas will exactly be the same as if there would be monoliths.
So if u think u will get lesser connections to your opponents by banning monoliths, you have the wrong idea.

huh, thats interesting...

But how about on an islands map?

I think I'd either make the islands bigger...or just keep it the way it is?

Hmmm, or how about a regular map with no monoliths but with sub gates?

Anyway, you don't need to answer all of these if you dont want.  If this mod is easy to make (I've done some HTML editing and such, but game code is completely different I take it...so if I'm asking way too much just say so ), maybe there could be a 'no monoliths (of anykind)' and then a 'no one-way monolith' mod, and I could just experiment with them and see what works

1) Angelito is right - banning 2way monolith will make randoms just crazy.
2) 99% randoms are played with "NO WATER" option.
3)it's easy to make such mod - maybe 2-3 hours however i doubt that i will do it soon - i have some tasks.

2. really? I havn't played online at all, my friends and I just play hot-seat.  

Though all land maps I find better, my friends like to play islands :/
