Hazardous to your health.

I have a list of “pet” peeves as long as I am tall.

But very near the top of that list, bordering on sheer hatred…

is other drivers.

I can’t avoid them, I must drive as I am the only driver in my household.
No. Not for the reasons you might think.

So everyday I venture out into the world feeling as if I ought to mount side cannons to my car.
I sometimes feel as though I should really be some kind of NASCAR driver in order to get simple errands accomplished.
Or maybe get my last will and testament in order before I even put the key in the ignition.

You have to wonder sometimes.

I know what I had to do to get my license to drive, and I assume that everyone must also pass at least the basic tests to get theirs as well…

So why on earth must I constantly encounter these “Top Ten” drivers:

1. The turn lane is my own personal lane. Better yet, I am going to drive with my blinkers on.

2. Blinkers and the side mirrors are purely a decoration on this model. So are the brakes.

3. The speed limit is a suggestion only. What? 50 mph on a residential too slow?

4. Seatbelts and child seats are for pansies. I love it when my 14 kids are pole vaulting from the back seat to the front and back again.
A regular 3 ring Big Top right here in my car Yes-sir-ree-Bob.

5. No really. I CAN drink my Starbuck’s, smoke my cigarette, talk on the phone, look at that billboard, yell at my unrestrained kids, AND eat this Krispy Kreme donut…all while driving. What? Can’t you MULTI-TASK?

6. I tailgate because I REALLY like you. Nice bumper baby.

7. I am going to cut you off in traffic, then drive 10 mph.

8. Which way am I going? Hmmmm. Left? Right? Left? Right?

9. Driving with the brake engaged..."I meant to do that."

10. I can see over the steering wheel...with a few phone books. (Too young/Too old dilemma)

I mean seriously, it gets irritating, and even frightening sometimes.
I am reduced to cursing a blue streak, and gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles otherwise I probably would be getting out of my car at the next stop light to royally chew someone a new exhaust...possibly 4 depending on my mood.

Road rage.

I know why people do it.

Sheer frustration at the stupidity you are forced to share the road with. LOL

What are your biggest peeves while driving?

Funny you should mention it.  I just posted at the RT how I was infuriated today because someone sideswiped my car and then sped off (including a wreckless U-turn) before I could write down their plate information.

This is one of the reasons I hate big cities. Traffic, noise, too many people, it's a madhouse. Gimme trees and rivers and mountains any day. I've spent most of my life near cities or in the suburbs due to practical reasons (i.e. jobs), but I've also lived in VERY isolated areas where there are no jobs. So what is the greater luxury, being broke, but living in nature with clean air, or having money and living in a smoggy, noisy, stressful city?

Well, while the whole thing no doubt sucks, you have some recourse through your own insurance company.
I would file a report anyway with the police if you haven't already, was there anyone else who saw what happened? Maybe they got a plate number...
Either way, I am so sorry to hear about this. I know it's a royal pain.

I only drove a few times while I was living in Chicago, and hated it every time. LOL When we went back last year I was beyond freaked out and it showed. I swear they saw the SD license plates and messed with me on purpose. I'd rather be broke and deal with ridiculous drivers than have money and deal with psycho drivers. LOL

I don't know what the traffic is like where you live, but if you have some kind of class...driver education is what we call it here...I'd think you'd be fine as a driver so long as you engaged your brian and used common sense.
That and a few years under your belt for experience certainly helps.
Don't worry so much.

And I always think it will change...

I know better.

I know when I pull out of the driveway...I will have to contend with the gazillion other drivers, most of whom I swear got their license by accident and not because they actually deserved it.

*grumbles*

And funny enough...I always think it will be different.

That one day, these folks I share the road with will suddenly grow a brain or maybe even engage the brain they have.

Wishful thinking. *sighs*

SSDD. Thats what I think right now.

Lol yes that's what they all think

You know that joke, with an <insert a member of the group of people you don't like here, in my case it would probably be a republican> driving and listening to the car radio... The speaker says "...and police still hasn't been able to catch up with the maniac stubbornly driving in the wrong direction...", and the republican says "'The' maniac?! There's more than a hundred of them!"

*tumbleweed rolls past*

Yes I know the joke sucks, it was just strangely fitting here... :/

driving women

Here in Lebanon most of the people is crazy, they are on the rush. (Not just women)
You must look in every direction (the 8 directions not just the 4 ones, east and northeast...). And for extra caution you should look up too, you don't know maybe someone in a big has limbed on something and there he is flying toward you.

I’ve got some pictures from the web, maybe you have seen them before:

My ex husband had a great saying...

"Women driver's...no survivors."

But I dont think that is entirely true you see...I think ANYone can be a craptastic driver.
Besides that, if women were all that awful behind the wheel, then our insurance rates would be right up there with the men's...at least in the US. *laughs*
