For all those who don't know to import DEF files,this is how I do it:
-Start Command Prompt (Start Menu,All Programs,Accessories)
-Switch to your partition (in my case E) by pressing X: (X being your partition letter)
-Then go to the data folder of the game with the CD command(again,in my case it's CD games/HoMM III - WoG/data)
-then type h3sprite.exe @name of the def file (in this case it's h3sprite.exe @ZM178NPC.DEF)
Here is the picture to make it clear 
And that's it
btw you'll need this copied in your data folder for this way to work

Forgot to add: if in combat those creatures will move too fast (graphically), then open cranim.txt and increase the value of Walk Animation Time.
