Can anyone please point me to a link that details the min-max number of creatures in a stack?

eg: a few/lot/horde/throng etc?

One of the most interesting thing when you face a monster is "is it the small lots, or the big lots"

Cause there is a big difference between 20 and 49 units... With practice you should be able to anticipate the rough number by the object the monster guards. Still there can be unpleasent surprises.

You can find out how many creatures they are with spell Vision, by sacrificing a guard, or by looking the change in the begining of each week.

Each week the guards on the map invrease by 10%. So if guards was pack week 1 and lots week 2, you can expect them to be 20-22.

Another thing about the guards on the map is when they are in 7 slots and when in 2 or even 1. It depends on the relevance between your army strenght and the creatures strenght. There were big and good post about it. If your forces are equal you can expect them to be on 4 slots.

Another thing about the guards on the map is the chance to face upgraded units in the non upgraded guards. The upgraded units always are in just 1 slot. The chance to have upgraded units is 50%. You cant  see unless you have vision spell, or by sacrificing a scout.

So if you face shooters (like Titans) you dont want to fight them with superior army, because they will be on 2 slots and you will have to deal with 50% titans instead of 13% (if they are on 7 slots).
