My ally, my enemy...

Something I'd been mentioning to my hubby that I'd love to have when we play allies, is the ability to change alignments (ally - neutral - enemy) midgame.  How interesting it would be if you could persuade or "buy out" your enemy to become your ally... or even have an (AI, especially) ally turn on you, to fight it out at the end of the game for ultimate supremacy!

something like that would make the computer almost seem... human.  It sure would make things more interesting in future versions of the game, because it obviously can't be changed now.

We'd often thought how interesting it might be when we play together as allies, how it might be... we both have the same spells, having visited each others' castles.... and usually similar numbers of troops, income, and castles.  Sometimes we just wanna duke it out ourselves ("my black and gold dragon army can take your horde of titans!"  "oh yeah?  well..." etc) but we can't.

I have an opinion on it, lol. Me and my big mouth!

The idea of having a solid computer ally is of course a choice that you make according to the map specs. Truth be told, few people, if any really care for computer alignments as the computer is a pathetic ally in any case.

Online though, especially in a good 4 way free for all, allies are never so clearly set. This is where true diplomacy comes into effect and you can set your alignments through whispering between different players and even set each other up against everyone. However, you yourself have to be careful that YOU'RE not the one who's being set up by your so called 'ally' who could of course, be allied with someone else at the same time.

This is one of the great things about online strategy is the fact that your words of kindness or rage set the mood for the game and you can change alliances as you see fit in order to give yourself the best chances of victory.

Of course, if you play your free for all game like this (trying to pit everyone against each other and not against you) often ends up backfiring and you get caught out...

Just make sure that when the stuff hits the fan that you've got enough heroes to take on all of your opponents and come out victorious!

Ally games...

I have possible commented this long long time ago...

But anyways I think there could be as option to certain maps have same kind of diplomacy system like Warlords had.

I mean very simple system.

Computer AI can be made to work to be some kind of ally, of course not close as human partner would be.
3DO hasn't just programmed so good AI it could challenge human player or even ally with it.

I think there should be example set some kind of "boundary" where AI ally can come and not take your resources and stuff.

Maybe in HOMMV there is chance to change your allies in those maps that are done so.
