I would be surprised if they could not be compatible, so it's only a matter of having the time to put them both together.
@fiur: yes, that's why Nelgirith mentions the "old" Necro button (2.1). The new one (3.0) contains the Orcs.

I'm playing the second TotE campaign, but the buttons don't appear (although they do in other maps, I tried) - could this be because of the dark energy bar or something?

No idea, I'll have to check that.
EDIT : Ok, I've tested fast and the game crashed upon launching a game in C1M2 (Aranthir's campaign, since I don't consider the prologue as a campaign) if that's what you meant.
For some reason, the game was able to launch the same map when I used the NCF exe 
Gonna investigate further though 
EDIT 2 : Just included Necrobutton 3.0 and the crashes don't occur anymore. I'll keep checking and update this tomorrow
EDIT 3 : Mod updated with Necrobutton 3.0 from Protoss. Links are updated in the masterpost.
About the crashes, they seem not to be linked to my mod. Even by removing my mod, Aranthir's second campaign map crashed upon loading. The only way I've found in order to solve this was by using the NCF Exe.
