And by the way, not all orthodox countries use the Julian calendar. Some, like my country, use the Gregorian calendar and are orthodox.

Both Gregorian and Julian calenders are based on the sun. A year is a whole surrounding of the sun by the earth.
There's the Muslim calender, which is based on the moon. 12 surroundings of the earth by the moon are a year.
The Jewish calender is based on both sun and moon, when every surrounding of the earth by the moon is a month, and once per four years, there's another extra month to make the years count to be on the same rate as the other calenders.
That's from what I know, but I'm not sure about it. So any corrections are welcome.

What does religion have to do with religion... -.-
I had a great time. They shooted lots of fireworks from the castle in our town. Lol, all adults got hyper-drunk and we are at my mums boyfriends brother. I got two new friends there, but they were a little bit silly (girls...).
I hope we can stop with the "religion wars" on HC this year!
Im flying to Egypt tomorrow
I will visit the Pyramids, Cairo and much more
It will be really cool and fun i must buy christmas-presents there lol
I hope its cheap like it was in Turkey.

Oh, our countries use Gregorian calendar too, but the Orthodox Church still uses the Julian. So we, in short, have the chance to get drunk again

Yeah, baklava is right. Some Serbs even stated that they don't celebrate (or don't really much celebrate) the regular new year. (but maybe they get drunk even than)
