All this "kill the rich!" rhetoric disgusts me. People worked for their money. They deserve it.

Working hard for lots of money is one thing.
Working hard for REDICULOUS amounts of money is a whole other. Recently some big chief guy resigned from his position, was given a couple of MILLIONS of euros for her services. The amount was insane. I have nothing against people who work hard and earn a lot of money.
I DO have something against who may work hard, earn a lot of money, but make even more money by exploiting every single thing they can find to save some money. It goes at the cost of nature, people's welbeing, and the whole community in general. Not to mention the whole planet.
Are you aware that electro-driven cars are being kept out of production by oilcompanies so they can keep selling Gasoline?
It's a DISGUSTING mentality - all for making profits at the cost of everything else.

I agree with Moonlith here 100%
Just a quick story from my country, Hungary:
A man cheated (don't know if it's the right word for it) from various companies 17 billion(!) hungarian forints. The court sentnced him to pay 3 million forints back. Yeah. All the rich people deserved their money.

Quote: Actually the president is not an idiot and he isn't doing it for votes. I always love it when people call President Bush an idiot. Walk a mile in his shoes, make the decisions he has had to make, and then judge the guy. I always find it funny how people, who just sit idly by and contribute nothing, are so quick to condemn those willing to make difficult decisions.
Secondly, the economic stimulus program isn't a method to get votes. It's a way to keep the economy from receeding further. History has shown us that when Americans get money back from the government, we love to dump it back into the economy right away. If this were really a ploy to get votes, don't you think it would been implemented later in the year, around election time?
I'm not even going to bother writing the long winded reply to this that I could, you can find out just as easily as I can if you care to.
George W. Bush is a war criminal and should be locked up, he has done far too much to make this world an even scarier place to live (and I don't even live in America). He actually makes me sick.
The "hard decisions" thing is hardly an excuse. Maybe get someone to be president who can make difficult decisions without looking like a total buffoon? Surely in the millions of people USA could have pulled someone better to lead the western world than that dim witted mass murderer.
Contribute nothing? This world is so unbelievably ****ed, on so many levels that I gave up caring a while ago. But let me tell you George W Bush is right up there in blame atm.
Impeach George Bush.
Thankyou.

If you gave up on caring about the world, what do you care what President Bush does?
And talk about a sad excuse: You don't need to contribute because the world is so totally messed up. That's just what I'm talking about. People sit around and complain how horrible everything is, and yet, they do nothing to make things better. Don't you find it sad that is what's come to?

Not caring is an expression.
It doesn't mean I don't actually care about anything. I care if I die or if other people die.
I care if innocents are slaughtered I care if one man lies and manipulates his nation and allows the torture of countless victims while preaching false freedom and rights that aren't worth the paper they're written on.
"If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy."
-James Madison
And just because I don't have the power to stop George Bush or whatever (I know he won't be president for long) doesn't mean I can't dislike travesty.
I hope you have more sense than that.
"Of course the people don’t want war. But after all, it’s the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it’s always a simple matter to drag the people along. Whether it’s a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the biddling of the leader. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to greater danger."
– Hermann Goring at the Nuremberg trials
Besides, who's to say I don't contribute?
But I guess you're free to love Bush all you want. As I said, I stopped caring

1st off the reason it wasn't closer to election time is to confuse the issue. Yes, there is economic problems, and yes 600 per person will help, a little. No, Bush isn't running for anything, but right now people from his party are. It's a desperation act. "Oh gee look. He is giving us money, can't be all bad. Maybe his party isn't as bad as we thought." Bleh. Please don't fall for this.
2nd 1 of the reasons things ARE as bad as they are is because so much blasted money went to a nonsense war instead of back into our economy.
Yeah, ok so I am jaded. And probably going to be considered the 'tin foil' hat type person. Ask me if I care that some of you will consider me that.
As for the electric car. Heard about one YEARS ago. For about 6 months, then silence. Hmm wonder what happened. I know, the car fairies came and took it away because we weren't good boys and girls. Sure it didn't travel far or as fast as most current cars, but this was at least 10 years ago. No improvements since then? Weird.
As for 'rich' yeah some of them are actually decent people. They worked hard and got to where they were by inginuity and creativity. Some got there by stepping on/over people and exploiting them. Some got it from Mommy and Daddy. Want to guess which I respect more?
However, indeed Bush isn't an idiot. Stubborn, yes. Stupid, no.

I never thought of that. Is this taxable income? That would be like the government, to give money and then tax it.

Just thought id mention its a bit unfair to say "all the money that went into the war"
A lot of it is the regular defense budget, which admittedly is a LOT of money . But it would have gone to the army anyway
