at the end, we find out that very similar to us humanoids(the ones from mars, those who constructed the giant robot-spiders) have become giant heads with no arms or legs. they have become so lazy because of the robots doing all the work, evolution got rid of the arms and legs for them, why would they need them?

See, that could never really happen, and the reason is that factor that (sort of) saved mankind hundreds of times already:
Sex.

See, sex drives us to look good, stay physically competent and retain our complex body structure to some level. I don't think we'd allow evolution to replace female boobs and other juicy stuff with tentacles and a giant head on top. Though, if we were to evolve into giant slimy tentacled heads, the females most probably wouldn't even notice the change... We'd still be watching TV and drinking beer in our underwear most of the time.
Not saying that I do. Just saying that... well, all of us do

Taking this from a neutral perspective

Quote:
Maybe years of being exposed to SciFi movies and countless videogames has made me a little paranoid, but I'm fairly convinced robots will one day wipe out humanity.
Ahem, I think we would also wipe out any aliens or robots that stand in our way too -- why are we better than them anyway? Just because we're we? I mean, we want to be dominators and all that -- i.e be in charge of the situation, but isn't this 'evil' much like the "Terminator"? I guess humans are a way of ex-terminators too... There were some books/movies which made the image in reverse: robots were abused of the human selfishness and greed and stupid desires, etc..

I'm not saying robots are good, or better -- but in fact when we "blame" evil robots for something, we should first take a look at ourselves instead. My opinion is, people can change and be good, without any robots what-so-ever, but just because they "can" doesn't mean that they "want".

I guess the human species is just another virus that's afraid of another probable virus (robots).

War of the Evil Kingdoms!!!

Anybody a little more optimistic about our future enslavement by the metal ones?
Ahem, we enslave a lot of animals + robots too. Why wouldn't they? Just put yourself in their position and just think how humans really are...

Not to mention I'm positive that if we'll ever meet some alien race (that supposedly can't counter-attack, because humans only learn by force), we'll enslave it without hesitation.

But I hope I'm wrong.

That's how I've felt about it too, Death.  There would be no reason NOT to wipe us out or enslave us.  So it's better to quell anything before it's too late.

Mind you, I really am not that worried about it.  Most likely humanity will kill itself off before robots do.

My point was that robots are not "more evil" than us, humans -- even if they happen to be "Terminators" (of course I'm generalizing, because some individuals have good will, but they often can't do anything...).

So before we draw wrong conclusions about "being afraid of robots", we should look at us, and be disgusted by what we have done and possibly even afraid (we as humans, again, on the large scale, not as individuals). The only way we can be 'nice' is through understanding, not by being forced (e.g: some 'power' forces us). Robots (terminators) are simply our mirror, so to speak. The horrible things they do, we do as well. But some people place emphasis on how 'evil' robots are, and they might be true, if we wouldn't have been the same -- for evil can't judge evil

So yes, I agree with this thread that terminator-like robots are evil, but also it's connection to (generalization) humans. The title indirectly suggests this. For I think terminators are greedy and evil -- but they are our 'brothers' in mentality, that is, we are greedy and evil too. The fact is, if we were to go in war with them, it would end up as "The Battle of the Evil Kingdoms" (or in Heroes-speak: Necropolis vs Inferno). Which one of them is us, and which is robots, I'll let you figure it out.

(again not talking about individual humans, but on the large scale and possibly those in 'power').
